BLURB:
Doug is a cheese pizza kind of guy. A honeymoon cruise around the Caribbean is the most adventurous thing he’s ever done. Going on that honeymoon alone is unthinkable, but here he is, with a luxury suite and a broken heart.
Tripp is a hopeless romantic. He’s in a sinking relationship that’s been taking on water for months. He’d throw in the towel if he had one, but he’s naked and locked out of his room.
No one should be on a cruise alone, and Tripp has a simple solution: he and Doug will pretend to be husbands and enjoy everything a week of sea and sun has to offer. But as the days and nights heat up, can a cheese pizza kind of guy be brave enough to give love a second chance?
REVIEW:
Finding a naked man in the hallway near your room on a cruise is not what Doug was expecting. He on his honeymoon, but unfortunately it’s by himself and his heart is broken. Tripp (the naked man) is trying to relax with his boyfriend who is quickly pulling away. How can they both survive their predicament? By playing fake husbands to each other to lift their spirits. But will things go awry?
This second book in the series follows Doug from the office of the lead character from the first book. Doug is just so heartbroken after his terrible experience at what should have been his wedding. The cruise was paid for so why not take the vacation? But by himself? It might be even worse that he does. But finding Tripp, who’s also not so happy, sparks an adventure. Doug feels he’s so simple and how can a more outgoing guy like Tripp help him out of his funk? Tripp is going to try, and with that comes being fake husbands, some odd pet names, hidden skills, and inappropriate conversations with other members on the cruise.
Temple has created such likable characters and you can feel for both – Doug is trying to protect his broken heart and Tripp is trying not to continue his streak of serial monogamy, jumping right in to the next relationship. Their adventures can be comical and help to lighten Doug’s sadness. As with most fake relationships, things suddenly start to get real and they must deal with their feelings.
The tone of this book is fun without being over the top. Tripp is inventive in his methods to help Doug enjoy himself. There’s a dose of reality as they disembark but it feels based in reality and not so fluffy. They must eventually deal with their situations once the ‘honeymoon’ is over and come to some resolutions. The book was a joy to read and I really like both characters. I’m hopeful they might show up in another book if the series continues.
