Lennox Freeman (Free) is one of the best hackers in the world which has caused him to spend most of his life on the run. Never able to put down roots, he couldn’t trust anyone not to take advantage of him, even his own family.
Ivan Hart has lived and bled one creed all of his life: To Serve and Protect. His intense focus and determination in law enforcement has led him to finally commanding his own team. He’d worked hard to put together a squad of badasses capable of backing up a very dangerous team of detectives. Being God and Day’s last line of defense came with a lot of responsibility that he took very seriously.
After his divorce was final Hart turned right around and remarried his job. He had his good friends there in the office with him every day, so it was easier to ignore the few quiet hours he spent at home alone each night. He’d settled well into his new routine and was comfortable with it. Then God decided to disrupt everything by hiring another tech specialist for his department. A man whose brains, trendy looks, and voice would leave Hart tongue-tied and captivated at their first introduction.
REVIEW:
Abuse can come in different forms! Sometimes, the way a person looks physically won’t tell you how he is inside, we sometimes see them as strong and that nothing can bring them down, physically, emotionally and psychologically; well, sometimes we can be very wrong!
I think the worst abuse a person can feel is psychologically and mentally, these abuses are incurable. No matter how long time has pass, this will forever linger subconsciously.
What Hart went through in his marriage is unconceivable, how can someone who supposedly loves you, abuse you in that manner? How can someone who supposedly loves you degrade you and extinguishes your self-confidence in all manner, but especially in the way you look? When you truly love someone, you accept all of that person, physically, emotionally and mentally! Maybe you don’t like some parts of them, but if you truly love them you accept them just the way they are and do not try to change them but instead encourage them!
Free is so smart and has so much talent, but the kind of talent that he has can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. For Free especially, he never expected that his skills would be abused by someone he trusted. He had to escape that life, for his sake and his mother’s. And with the help of a very good friend, he/they did! Meeting Hart made Free realize that maybe he can also find someone to love and someone who would care for him, talent or no talent, but just for being him, as a person!
These two people had so much insecurities to get through. A lot of events in their lives have made them vulnerable and wary, meeting each other brought forth their ability to overcome all of these and maybe, forge a lifelong relationship base on who they are as people, not because of what the other expects them to be. It is a story of acceptance and finally having the self-confidence to be who they truly are, as a person and as a partner!
Mr. Aiden Snow, you are incredible! Hart’s vulnerability is painful to read but hearing you voice them made me cry, it made me go through his pain with him! Hart is tough and soft, confident and insecure, brave and vulnerable and you can hear all of these in your voice. Having Free in his life has cured him of his insecurities and has also brought forth the stability that Free has been looking for all his life. Thank you so much for your talent. You both, Ms. A.E. Via and Ms. Aiden Snow, have brought us this amazing story with these amazing characters. Ms. Via, this series is a big favorite of mine, it has everything you look for in a story, action, intrigue, partners in love and family!
