BLURB:
Isaac Ford seeks help from the detective who put him in prison — now security consultant, Andrew Wen — after an unexpected prison break weeks before his release. Despite an almost twenty-year age difference and being on opposite ends of the law, the attraction between them culminates in a one-night stand that teeters Isaac between turning himself in and returning to a life of crime. His decision is made for him when he discovers a young man waiting for him at his safe house — the son he never knew existed.
Months later, Isaac has been reconnecting with his son, Dalton, and started a security consultancy of his own, looking for a fresh start. His past catches up to him, however, when he runs into Andrew at the police station, both seeking information on a new thief. Andrew isn’t happy Isaac left that night or that he’s been encroaching on his business, but the passion between them rekindles as trying to one-up each other turns sexual. Neither plan to let anything more come of their tryst until Andrew finds out about Dalton, who he knew in college, and a theft at Dalton’s job forces Isaac and Andrew to work together.
Dalton playing matchmaker complicates things. What’s worse is how easily Isaac and Andrew keep giving in.
REVIEW:
I know this technically isn’t a series, but I really hope that I see these characters again. Not only was it funny as heck, it was thrilling. The cat and mouse, the chase of the new thief, the competition. It was all just so much fun. I had a ball reading this and I hope you guys get as much fun out of this as I did.
Isaac never thought he’d be pulled into a breakout at the prison, especially when his time was almost up. But he was dragged along, whether he liked it or not, and he could only think of one person to go to. His arresting officer, Andrew. But what Isaac finds out is Andrew quit and he’s going to have to count on someone else to clear his name. But what he finds out that night as well is that he and Andrew still have chemistry and he now has a son he never knew of. Trying to stay clean now that he’s out, he’s taken up the security game as well and is in competition with Andrew. And it’s causing problems for Andrew. But what Andrew really doesn’t want to admit, is he can’t get Christmas out of his head and he wants more. And now knowing Isaac’s son, Dalton, is a student he tutored, things just keep getting weirder. Especially when Dalton keeps trying to set them up. But things have just taken a turn for the worse. It’s bad enough there are thefts in the area again, but they are mimicking Isaac’s old patterns. And he’s terrified for Dalton’s safety. And he fears have just come true. They’ve come after Dalton’s work for the university and for life and tried to hurt Dalton as well. But the shock of it all, is the betrayal of who it is. And how everyone automatically wanted to blame Isaac. And when this is all over, what’s going to be left of Andrew and Isaac?
I love the chemistry between Andrew and Isaac. And I don’t just mean the sexuality. They really do work well together and bounce things off each other so well. They have quick minds, quick wit and fit pretty seamlessly together. But it’s hard when one was once a cop and the other a thief, especially when no one wants to let either of you forget anything or give anyone a second chance either. It’s been one thing after another. But it’s been fun too. The things their coworkers get to hear, because they forget to turn comms off. The quips, the setups from Dalton. It’s just hilarious. But it’s thrilling too. Because they do have a thief who seems to be using all of Isaac’s old tricks and the set up for Isaac is about to hurt him bad if they don’t catch who it is. It’s a huge game of cat and mouse and Andrew and Isaac are getting played. And betrayed. So there’s just so much to this story. I really want to see more from these guys.
I highly recommend. Just a great book.
