A His MM Romance Novel
Temperatures rise when there are two cooks in Jude’s kitchen…
Jude’s drowning in guilt when he can’t save his family business single-handed. The last person he expects to throw a lifeline is Rob, a rival chef who once beat him to first place in a cooking contest.
Two chefs working together won’t be easy. Not when Rob is everything Jude isn’t—popular, extroverted, and a one-time hook-up. What’s worse is that Rob wears his heart on his sleeve while Jude’s still in the closet.
Jude’s dilemma doesn’t end there. Rob’s rescue package comes with conditions that mean sharing everything from the profits to Jude’s sleeping quarters. Sleeping with the enemy will either be a disaster or signal a much brighter future, but only if Jude can meet Rob’s final condition and love him in the open.
Featuring opposites who attract, rivals to lovers, and an out-for-you storyline dripping with hurt-comfort feelings, His Horizon is the first in a shared-world series of standalone MM romance novels from Con Riley.
REVIEW:
Jude is a contestant on a cooking competition in London. His closest rival is the son of a Michelin starred chef who doesn’t even seem to care about the competition exception to harass Jude. The prize Rob really wants is Jude. But when Jude runs out on the show and doesn’t say goodbye, Rob is pretty ticked off. Until he finds out why.
Jude has sailed halfway around the world, but has returned to Cornwall for the summer season to keep his family’s business afloat with his sister. But when he arrives, he discovers that the town has suffered a major disaster AND Rob sleeping in his bed. He a Rob had shared a kiss before he left, but he had not expected to see him again and certainly not a his family home. But Louise, his sister has depended on Rob in his absence.
Jude has kept himself apart from his family in many ways. He assumed something about his father and so he has gone off to London as soon as he could. He never told anyone that he was gay and it’s been a heavy weight for him. But Rob is definitely not willing to be anyone’s secret, which becomes moot pretty quickly. Jude has never really be out, and he’s got strong feelings and reasons for that. However, it seems that many of those reasons were indeed incorrect assumptions on his part.
As Rob and Louise and Jude work like crazy to get their business ready for the summer tourist season, Jude and Rob grow closer. They each discover things about the other they didn’t know and they support one another in unexpected ways. Whether its cooking, decorating, finding long lost friends, discovering a way to reconnect or opening eyes to relationships that are right under their noses, Rob and Jude truly become a couple – and a force to be reckoned with. I do not want to spoil any of the plot of this book, so let’s just leave it that they have a lot to overcome, but they take that journey together and find strength in each other over and over.
Oh my, this story is rather swoon-worthy. I absolutely adored Rob. He was so patient and understanding the Jude. Communication is not Jude’s strong suit, but Rob keeps working on him. Both men have suffered grief and loss and both have some issues with their fathers – mostly based on their own perceptions. There are a lot of surprises in this story – almost from the very beginning. I loved the way the author kept us a little off balance throughout the story, never knowing what was going to happen next. The journey is definitely not in a straight line for these two. There is also a sweet relationship with Jude and his sister as well. The other folks in the town provide their support as well which to Jude is a bit unexpected. I also absolutely loved the way everything comes together in a most unexpected way in the end. It’s just an absolute delight and I kept reading faster and faster to see what would happen. I have no idea what is planned for the rest of this series, but if they are half as good as this story, I can’t wait to read them. Highly recommended.
