BLURB:
Catch up with Kirkby residents Scott and Davis as they navigate through the ups and downs of fatherhood, relationships, and juggling… balls.
In two years, it’s clear love can last, just as it can grow.
Davis’s business remains successful, Scott’s clinic is going strong, and Libby is happy and content.
But that doesn’t mean real life is always perfect, nor does it mean fatherhood isn’t as exhausting as it is wonderful.
Needing a break from their daily routines, Davis and Scott head away for a weekend of uninhibited fun. With lots of laughter and dancing, Davis has never seen Scott so relaxed and comfortable in public.
And he’s not quite sure how to handle that.
Worried that life in Kirkby is holding Scott back, Davis nearly makes the biggest mistake of his life.
But Scott has other ideas. He doesn’t need saving. What he needs is his man to step up and fight for their family and their future.
And he has just the plan to do it.
A True-Blue novella. I’ve Got You MUST be read prior to reading this story. Book three in Becca Seymour’s low-angst, feel-good LGBTQ series, True-blue. In the small town of Kirkby, there are busybodies, dogs who cause chaos, families who have the “best” of timing, and opportunities for good men to find their perfect match.
REVIEW:
I love this little story, because there’s so much truth in it. You get settled into your life and things seem so happy, until one little getaway and something happens that makes you question everything.
Scott and Davis have been so happy with each other and raising little Libby. But both need a break and after a suggestion to get away for the weekend, they decide to go. Everything seemed so great. Scott finally felt free to be himself. It was a great weekend until one homophobic woman seemed to bring everything screeching to a halt. Davis was questioning if where they were was enough for Scott, seeing as the town had bad memories for him. And was wondering if he was holding Scott back. And Scott, upon hearing this, is now questioning if he’s truly loved and where he belongs. So once again, communication is in order, and hopefully before some more damage is done.
I hate homophobic bigots. With such a passion. And it broke my heart in this story, when everything seemed to be taking a bigger and better turn, that one comment could almost ruin everything. And the sad part is, without a strong foundation and communication, that’s all it often takes. One little harsh comment. One comment that can make or break so many things. I’m glad that Scott and Davis knew they had to talk about this. And even with it being tough, I’m glad they kind of gave each other a little space. To a point. That was almost just as disastrous. But with any relationship, it takes work, patience and a lot of communication to keep things going. And they knew this and because of it, it helped things tremendously.
Words are so powerful. They really do have the power to make or break things. And it’s so unfair at times. People just want to live their lives in peace and happiness. Well most people. And it shouldn’t matter on how they want to live it. Unless it causes harm to others, but you know what I mean. Be careful of your words. And if you have words spoken to you, don’t let them change the course of your life and destiny, unless it’s time for a change. But make sure that is because of something you want to better your life, not because someone is a butt.
