REVIEW:
I love a good sports story, so when I saw this, I was intrigued and so interested to read it.
Basically the #hashtags tell you the premise of this story.
You will find a sweet, very sexy story with low angst about two athletes who have been playing together for a couple of years.
They started as a sports partnership but choosing their love over a work relationship means that they both have to work and train with other partners to get to their ultimate goal…the Olympics.
In the prologue we get a very quick meeting between the two men and from there the story skips ahead to when they are already together romantically. They are living together and Ace partnered up with Jay, while Robbie is still struggling to find a new volleyball partner.
For me this goes a bit too quickly. I would have liked to have seem a bit more of how their relationship grew.
When Robbie finds a new partner, there is the “expected” jealousy but the author has done a fantastic job of giving the reader a great sense of how strong Ace and Robbie’s relationship is.
The story takes you a little bit into the road to the Olympics before you read about that event.
For me the overall feeling is that this story felt way too short and very rushed. There were quite some big time jumps that for me were too extensive and felt like I was missing out on important stuff. Or maybe I just would have liked to read more about the missing things. What didn’t get skipped were the lovemaking scenes but I would have gladly traded some of the sexy times for more story.
There are some things I am very interested in though. How will their journey to the next Olympics continue for example and I am very interested in reading about their volleyball partners.
If you like a comfortable, easy, sweet and low angst read for a couple of hours, you can rest assured this book will definitely give you that.
