The Lyliňg Fighting House, too, prepares for celebration–by laying fresh sand onto the arena and setting up a match against their top pit fighter, the unrivalled Yüuzuki Ōren.
His last match. One he can’t win.
With the odds more than stacked against him, the gorgeous Barbarian is as good as dead. Unless his lover, healer Ĥaiatto Ẽkana, proves himself every bit as determined as he is clever and finds a way to protect the man he’d stop at nothing to save.
REVIEW:
This story I was happily surprised by. Not that I was expecting it to be bad, not at all. But it turned out better than I hoped. And all because a man who thought himself weak and worthless, put himself in danger at every turn to save the man he loved.
Yüuzuki being sold to the fighting ring at a younger age, knew at some point his time would come to an end. Even with being the star everyone loved to see fight, jealousy and greed were becoming a popular theme. And he felt his time was drawing close. Heck, he even considered ending it himself, until he met a beautiful healer named Ĥaiatto Ẽkana, that showed him more kindness than anyone in a long time. As their relationship grew, he knew Ĥaiatto hated what he did, but he had no choice. Ĥaiatto had tried many times to break the contract but the owners wouldn’t let him. And now Yüuzuki’s time was ending as he knew the next fight would end in death because of someone’s pettiness. And Ĥaiatto knows he has to do anything and everything he can possibly do to save the man he loves. He only hopes his idea works in time.
I know it was a popular thing back then. Heck, people still try to sell people now for slavery and such. But it’s such a horrible thing. Deplorable. And for what Yüu had to go through before he was sold, was heartbreaking. And completely unfair. It broke my heart to be reminded of the depravity and greed of people. When he finally had a light in his corner, in the form of Ĥaiatto, things changed for him. He was still the fierce fighter he always has been, but it meant for now. Now he has something to fight for. And I loved that made sure Ĥaiatto knew how special he was. He saw him for the fighter he was. Even when Ĥaiatto only thought himself a lowly Spark with no real magic.
Sometimes when life beats us down so hard, we have people in our lives who are there to build us up and love us regardless. And I loved that about these two. They were each other’s strength, support and love and they never let each other forget it. No matter what they were going through. It’s a good story. And I’m happy with how it ended.
