AUTHOR: Sam Burns
PUBLISHER: Self Published
LENGTH: 192 Pages
RELEASE DATE: March 26, 2020
BLURB:
Gavin Lloyd has been a werewolf for ten months, and he’s still trying to get used to it. He wants to settle into a nice quiet life, running his coffee shop with his pack and learning how to be a werewolf. But now people are saying he’s some kind of prophesied werewolf messiah. He doesn’t know how they expect him to help them when he hasn’t even figured out how to help himself.
Miles Parker has lived in Kismet, Colorado his whole life, and up till now it’s been nothing but a simple, mundane existence. Then Gavin moved into town, with his sparkling green eyes and ability to make tea lattes like nobody else.
When Miles gets a call to look into a burglary at his boyfriend’s home on the full moon, though, what he finds there sets off a chain of events that will leave his life completely transformed.
And maybe, somewhere along the way, give Gavin the spark he needs.
REVIEW:
I’ve really liked the characters in this series so far and Gavin and Miles are no exception.
Gavin is doing his best to take care of his pack in Kismet but he’s having a hard time reconciling his attraction to Miles with that need to be there for his pack. He doesn’t want to lose Miles before things even get started, but he doesn’t want to put his family in danger.
Miles is frustrated as hell with Gavin’s hot and cold running emotions. He’s head over heels with the former military man, but can’t figure out why the man is so closed off.
I liked these men a lot and the premise of the story as well. Its why I’m frustrated with the way the book went. I was really looking for a little more in the way of closing this series out with a bang.
The author introduces a lot of potential issues in this book, but mostly they just sort of fizzled out. The whole thing kinda felt rushed to me. There’s some family drama and some (not completely unexpected) twist and turns in Miles and Gavin’s relationship and I was really looking for Gavin to struggle more with the role that’s kind of been forced upon him.
This story has so much potential and to me it felt like a lot of it just got lost.
However, I did enjoy the dynamics between all of the wolves. The author does a great job of showing how their family (pack) works. I love the time spent with the character’s from the previous stories and so there’s still a lot of things to like.
Once again the editing could use a little work, but most people wouldn’t notice. I’m a special little sneak editor I guess.
All in all, this book (and the series in general) is a good story that I enjoyed very much, but I just wish that the author had fully explored a few more of the tangents the author introduced, especially in this last book.
