Justin looks forward to leaving behind his difficult past with an abusive alpha and secretly hopes the charismatic second alpha Milo will choose him. Gabriel has never wanted to mate, too embarrassed by his body’s reaction during heat, but soon gains the attention of Grey and his beta mate, Ian. All of the omegas hope for a happy ending, but a shadow falls upon the pack that brings danger to one of them.
REVIEW:
This may have some triggers for some. One old alpha crops up to take back ‘his’ omega and what was done to the omega already was bad. It’s a retelling and then a kidnapping but could still be traumatic to some so be aware.
Also, make sure you read the River Wolf Pack series first, for sure. I haven’t read the Cascades one yet, but when you start this story, if you haven’t read the River Wolf one, you are going to miss some important info. So be aware.
I have to tell you. I hated the way things were turning in the River Wolf pack. I felt for River and so many more, because things were changing and not in a good way. And when Milo went to pick up the omegas and others for the trade they made, it was obvious River had walked away, with so many others. The ‘alpha’ now, has basically lost his mind, and things are so badly worn down, it’s a wonder anything is surviving at all. And Justin and the others are ready to run. They are more than happy to be leaving, especially after Justin and his other ones that were mated to Stone, what they went through. Gabriel, Justin, the twins, all of them are nervous to start over. All for different reasons. Some are coming across wrong, some feel like they aren’t good enough, some feel like they are breaking things up. And it’s hard to adjust. But as they are starting to settle in, things seem to be getting a little better, until the past comes to haunt them. And the truth of things that are happening and have happened, are devastating. And hopefully it can be fixed before someone dies or anything else happens.
It’s definitely been a change to see what was once a flourishing pack be so run down. I don’t blame River and them for leaving. And I don’t blame Justin and them for wanting to run as far as they could from the mess things seem to be now. It’s hard when greed and power work into things and there’s no balance. And I think that’s what made me love this pack so much. River was trying to do the same and let people have choices and make things better, but it was just too much of an upheaval. And the Angel Hills are wanting to do the same. They are trying to make sure that people have choices, and things are moving forward. It doesn’t mean that things aren’t going to be hard and that they don’t want to adjust some things, but they are trying to be more progressive. I love that they are giving these new guys a chance to adjust. I’m glad they are finding true happiness, which is what they should have had all along. And with some new developments that have cropped up, I’m hoping a few others can find a happy ending they need.
