An omega searching for a safe haven.
The alpha he thought long in his past.
Graham Allen has always thought he was happy with a life of service to the Martingale pack. Not many people pay attention to him, but the alpha allows him to spend all his time in the kitchen he loves. When his old friend Hannah walks back into his life in desperate need of help, Graham knows he can’t turn to his pack. Instead, he has to seek help from the alpha he thought he’d never see again.
Asher Martingale hasn’t spoken to anyone in his birth pack since he left them eight years ago with orders to never return. The last thing he expects is for one of them to show up in his backyard with a woman and child asking for asylum, but he would never turn them away.
The Martingales aren’t willing to let their best cook go so easily, and worse, Ash’s ex is the pack member they send to retrieve him. With two omegas’ lives on the line, can they weather the storm of Ash’s turbulent past and Graham’s dawning understanding that there’s a whole world beyond it?
REVIEW:
Graham Allen is probably the sweetest wolf ever born. He works hard, taking care of his pack to the best of his ability. When his friend needs his help, Graham knows he has to look outside of the pack he was raised in to find it.
Ash is doing the best he can. He’s building a life with his friends and it’s almost everything he wants. Almost….
I have to say I liked this story a lot. It’s very sweet and I totally enjoyed watching Graham come into his own as he learns what pack is really supposed to be.
Ash and Gavin and Dez are three alphas who have come together to create a totally unique pack. They are the very definition of “be nice until it’s time to not be nice”. For all of them, the instinct to protect and care for people in need is what drives them. Ash is looking for something…and he’s not sure what it is until Graham walks back into his life.
I love how Ash goes after what he wants…but only once he’s sure his attention is welcome. It’s cute as heck and I’d love to see more of it.
Hannah, Graham’s friend who needs his help, is kinda badass in her own way. Her devotion to Graham makes her aces in my book.
Once again, it’s not perfect. Things move a little too fast for my liking. I’m an “anticipation” girl and find that the wait makes the HEA all the sweeter, but still, I enjoyed it.
It’s a little predictable, but the journey to get to the inevitable end is enjoyable enough that I didn’t care.
The world the author is creating is good and all her characters are relatable on a certain level. I’m looking forward to book three in this series. Gavin’s turn should be really interesting.
