REVIEW:
Right off the bat, I was in heaven when I found out Donovan kept bunnehs. We have a bunneh at home and I love the goofy fuzzball. But what I liked about this one too, is that it shows not every relationship is a normal BDSM relationship. Some want it 24/7, some don’t. Every relationship is different as each person wants something different and that’s why it’s so important to not kink shame. We all love different things because we are different people and I love this relationship.
Donovan wanted nothing but plenty of space and peace and quiet. Maybe a hookup now and then. But after being in the navy in close quarters for so long, he needed to breathe. At least until one night, for a hookup, he met the man of his dreams. Unfortunately, his hookup left before he could even get his name and Donovan couldn’t get the boy out of his mind. But the fates seemed to smile on him, when at a friend/neighbor’s bbq he ran into the man of his dreams again. And this time, he wasn’t letting Maverick leave him. But every relationship takes work and has a few hiccups, but as they learn their way with each other, it gets better. Almost downright perfect. Until a hiccup from Maverick’s life shows up and throws everything out of whack. Donovan wants to do the right thing, but will Maverick let him or will he keep those walls up?
With the past Maverick had, I can understand why he has certain hard limits about things. I have my own so I get it. What was funny though, was neither had expected more than a hookup from each other and ended up finding the one someone they thought they’d never have. But trust doesn’t come easy. No matter how much you lay out the rules and discuss things or get to know each other. But when that trust is given, it’s like a breath of fresh air. It’s the most beautiful thing ever, because it was earned. So Donovan knew what he had in Maverick. It didn’t mean that things were always easy. You always have to work at it and compromise at times. Communication is always key, no matter what. So I love this story because of what they accomplished. Yeah, it may come off as easy and romantic and such. Which it is. But it’s more than that. It’s such a level of trust and intimacy. Of learning each other and being able to be who they are with the other person. Not always an easy thing.
It’s a beautiful story. And I’m going to have to go back and read the others, because silly me, didn’t realize that there were 3 other books. Lol.
