ATF special agent Kane Delancey has a new boyfriend. After nearly losing Luca to a monster, he knows how precious life can be. He was repentant when he returned to fall on his sword with Luca but as things have turned out, it was probably the most intelligent thing he’s ever done. If he thought life was full before meeting the handsome young jeweler, he’d been fooling himself. Luca is sweet, kind, and the funniest person Kane has ever met.
Luca never expected to see Kane again but after a season of losses, the two men reconnect to find that they need each other now, more than ever. It seems that Kane no longer has reservations about the two of them and Luca can’t be happier about it. How the straight-acting Fed and the young club kid are going to blend their very different lives is a question they’ll be grappling with in the coming months. Seeing the hopeful look on Luca’s face when they discuss the problem, only helps Kane realize that there is no real choice at all.
With a serial killer targeting young men on a WITSEC hitlist with bombs, Kane and the rest of his team at the LAPD, ATF, and FBI scramble to find the man and arrest him before one more person dies. The fact that Luca was nearly a victim the last time, scares Kane to death. Join Kane, Luca, and a cast of characters as they track down a murderer in the newest installment of the WITSEC series before it’s too late.
REVIEW:
Ok, so there are some possible triggers, but not too bad. The bad guy is really psycho and the way he is killing people is gruesome and there’s some homophobia, but for the most part it’s not bad. Also, I’m still giving this 5 stars, because this is one heck of a book, BUT I’m not happy about the cliffhangery part at the end. I get why, but still. But this series is incredible. I love how the relationship is changing and growing with Luca and Kane, I love the thrill of the chase of this bad guy, the mystery of why he’s doing it, and just everything about it. I love the way Kane is changing as well. Things are becoming more clearer and better for him. And after the one main acceptance he needed in his life, it’s been great for him. He finally feels free.
But with this book and this series, things are getting more dangerous. Kane and his partners and coworkers, etc, their lives are on the line heavily as they are doing all they can to save these WITSEC people and find out why the bad guy is the way he is. They find out why and are shocked at what they find. But what shocks them even more, is the serious depravity of this man. They thought it was bad before, but what they are learning is much worse. And he basically has nothing to lose and doesn’t care who he takes out on the way down. But it’s more than that too. Because of how close everyone is, and how close Kane and Luca are becoming, it means more now. And it’s scarier because they finally all have something to really live for. The others kind of already did, but Kane really does. And the danger isn’t over. The bad guy has gotten away again, after shooting at all of them and clipping Kane, and Luca’s family is now in trouble as well. And it’s going to be hard on all of them to get through what is coming. Book 4 is going to be the test of all tests. And I only hope they survive it intact.
I’m so excited about book 4. I’m ready to see where this is going to go, but nervous as heck too, because I’ve seen the lead in to it all and it’s not going to be pretty. Especially with how hard everyone has worked to get to where they are. I know deep down it’s going to be an HEA, but that still doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be a nail biting experience. And I can’t wait. If you guys haven’t read this series, you really need to.
