As second in command of the River Wolf Pack, David takes his duty as ambassador to the Human/Werewolf Congress very seriously. With the threat of war, it’s more important than ever to strengthen human/werewolf relations.
But the meeting at the werewolf compound doesn’t go very well. The humans find the homosexual, polygamous nature of the werewolves, along with the fact that the men can bear children, off-putting.
On top of this, although David’s human lover Jax says he loves David, he is not willing to take the bite and become a werewolf himself. David doesn’t see how they can have a relationship, and even wonders if he would be better off mating with Brooks, an attractive beta in the pack. When David and Brooks are kidnapped by the vice president of the Congress, David has to think quickly to save his pack, even if it means throwing his own life away.
REVIEW:
Well, this one definitely took a turn I was not expecting in more than one way, and I’m happy and shocked in some ways at how it’s come about. Because there are a lot of changes coming to River Wolf. Some good, some definitely bad, and some…….no one is sure of yet.
David has never been more in love than he is now. But being in love is becoming painful, because his lover is human and not a total bottom. And it’s going against everything David is to ‘submit’ to anyone, especially a human. But that’s not all that’s going on. Jax doesn’t want the bite to change, and when someone else does and takes it, Jax makes some comments that shows how he really feels. At least that’s how David feels about it. And to make matters worse, the feral wolves are closing in, and the Congress has got a branch that has now kidnapped David and Brooks in order to get what they want from them. And things are looking grim. But that’s not all the surprises in store. And the River Wolf pack is going to have to make some adjustments, or things are going to be in great turmoil.
I really like how this is turning. I really am. It’s becoming such a good series. The push and pull, the angst, the threat of war and all the inner changes going on in the pack as well. It’s an uproar and River is doing all he can to make sure things stay the way they are supposed to. David is trying as his second, but with his head messed up about Jax, it’s hard. And although, sometimes, I want to shake these alphas because of the alpha macho attitudes they have, it’s funny to see how much their lives are changing because of the right mate. Whether it be a hybrid or a true omega, these alphas are now realizing who truly ‘wears the pants’ in the family and it’s quite funny. But it’s a good thing too, because the alphas are starting to listen to the fact that there may be other solutions other than theirs. And it’s helping. It’s causing things to change, which is hard for some of them, but they are learning to roll with the tide.
And with the new pack members, it’s really going to change. And hopefully for the better.
