BLURB:
I was sure my heart had withered away years ago, but then you smiled at me, and I felt it beat again.
Years ago, I fell in love with my best friend’s little brother. Then, he took his own life, leaving me shattered and unable to piece my heart back together. I’ve been a zombie for nine long years. Until a crazy, gorgeous man walked into Heathens Ink and injected color back into my world of gray. No matter how hard I try to resist Beck, he just won’t give up on me. I would need steel willpower to withstand his gorgeous long legs in those high heels and his drawer full of lacy lingerie. But is this just a kinky hook up or does it have the possibility for more?
REVIEW:
Gage can’t seem to move on from the memory of Johnny, who committed suicide. He is stuck! Gage feels like he is betraying Johnny if and when he moves on. Though he has no desire of doing that at all as he feels he will only love Johnny.
Beck is not afraid to show people who he is – out and very proud. His true passion is dancing though he just wanted to please his father so he became a lawyer. He is smart and beautiful.
Getting a tattoo allowed their paths to cross. And they can’t seem to forget each other. This leads to them hanging out, just like friends. But the more they spend time together, the more feelings they have. Gage hasn’t been in a relationship at all after Johnny.
Losing a loved one, especially to suicide, can leave someone scarred and lost for a long time. Depression sets in and before you know it, you have alienated yourself and become morose. Meeting someone who resembles the loved one you lost would either cause you more depression or can wake you up into new possibilities.
Nowadays, the number of suicide seems to have increased by a lot. This is caused by various reasons, it can be peer pressure, depression, or when the person does not see any way out. But thankfully, there is also a lot of help that you can reach out to so you do not have to be alone. You just have to take that first step.
I love the characters of Gage and Beck, even when Gage is very negative and depressed. Their vulnerabilities make them real. Their pain is all too realistic. Mr. Kenneth Obi did justice in voicing these two MCs especially during tension-filled scenes. The feelings that you have to project when you voice a particularly emotional scene is not an easy thing to do. Mr. Kenneth Obi was able to do that and more. This particular series has a lot of side characters and to voice each and every one of them differently is quite a feat to accomplish but Kenneth Obi was able to do just that. Thank you K.M. Neuhold for writing these stories and to Mr. Kenneth Obi bringing them to life!
