REVIEW:
You definitely need to read these in order to know the full story of things. This one kind of coincides with book 2, so yeah, if you haven’t read the other two first, you need to. This one was a big surprise. I knew something had happened with Ricky, in book 2, that caused him to run, but when I read the story of everything behind it, it’s heartbreaking, because everyone is putting fear and blame everywhere but where it should be. And because of it, no one is moving forward.
Morgan knows more than anyone the heaviness of grief. Having lost his family and so much more in the fire and explosion, he still misses them seven years later. He never wanted the role of alpha, but he has to do what he can to make this pack thrive. Even if it means putting aside his own hopes and dreams. But when Alpha Brian brings Ricky to his pack, the welcome is less than welcome. It’s hostile and full of animosity that they don’t understand. And Morgan completely ignored Ricky. His own mate. But Ricky refused to let it go that way, and set about finding a way into seducing his mate and maybe making him see they were meant to be. But after one passionate encounter, Morgan goes on the run, his beta confronts him where Ricky can hear, and then Ricky goes on the run. And because of miscommunication, everything is all messed up. Morgan tries to make it right, but Ricky is too scared. And Morgan gives up completely. And now it’s up to Ricky to see if he can make things right.
Once again, miscommunication has caused a whole lot of trouble. And fear of the unknown. Because everyone was afraid to talk about the fire and in fear of it, it made Ricky feel unwelcome. When it wasn’t his fault to begin with. But fear is a big thing. It can cause the smallest thing to be the biggest mountain. And without overcoming it, without talking it through and dealing with it, it becomes so much worse than it should have been. So I feel for everyone involved. Ricky and Morgan neither one had a chance until things were settled. And the rate it was going, it wasn’t going to be. And I hated that. Things just got way too out of hand for the wrong reasons. And it wasn’t honestly fair to anyone.
This is a toughy. But it’s so so good. I’m hoping there will be more coming from these packs, as I’ve grown to love these characters. They go through a lot but show their resilience often. And it’s a beautiful thing.
