My new neighbor is a total tool
He hated me from the second he laid eyes on me, and I don’t have the first clue why…
But, if he wants to hate me, I’m happy to give him a few reasons: mowing the lawn at dawn on the weekend, leaving garbage cans in front of his driveway, renting a petting zoo for my backyard…making a list of ways to drive him crazy is half the fun.
He deserves it with the way he’s driving me crazy right back without even trying— walking around without a shirt on, sweaty rippling muscles on full display, well-worn denim jeans perfectly molded to his…well, you get the idea.
My point is, if he wants a war, I’ll give him one.
***Nailed is an enemies to lovers, neighbors who can’t stand each other, omg the anger banging, drool worthy, low angst story, which happens to be the second in my Four Bears Construction Series. It CAN be read as a stand alone. There are NO shifters in this series, only the OTHER kind of bears.
Out of the corner of my eye I see something slither across the kitchen floor. I let out the least manly squeak that has ever passed my lips, pulling out the nearest chair and scrambling onto it.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Dare asks, eyeing me like I’m fit for a straitjacket.
“There’s a snake.” I crane my neck trying to see around the counter to spot where the little demon fucker went.
“A snake?” he repeats, arching an eyebrow at me. Then, Rudy realizes something exciting is happening and tears his eyes away from the burrito in his human’s hand to investigate.
“Rudy, no,” I shout, my heart beating faster at the image of a rattlesnake biting the loveable mutt. “Come here and you can have my burrito,” I tempt, grabbing my food off the table and unwrapping part of it. I crouch down on the chair and hold the burrito out so he can smell it, and when he gets close enough, I grab him by the collar, guiding him up onto the chair as I slide over onto the table itself. Dare continues to eye me with what seems to be amusement. What the hell he thinks is so funny about a snake in his kitchen is beyond me.
“Don’t feed him a burrito or he can come stay with you until he stops having diarrhea,” he warns, pointing a stern finger at me before setting his own food down and making his way around the counter to find the snake.
“Wait, you need something to protect yourself.” I eye the array of things on his counter, my eyes landing on a set of tongs. “There, grab the tongs.”
He snorts a laugh. Unfortunately, I’m too nauseous right now to revel in the victory. “Am I planning to grill the snake?” He asks.
“No, you’re going to fight it off like some sexy, badass superhero.”
“Sexy, huh?”
“Just get the snake,” I plead, my heart in my throat as I keep a firm hold on Rudy’s collar to keep him from going after the beast again. “But don’t kill it,” I tack on as he starts to round the counter with his tongs in hand.
“Do damsels in distress usually do so much backseat superhero-ing?” Dare grumbles. “Oh damn, there is a snake.”
Author K.M.Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.
