James:
My assignment is simple: go to the Cape and seal the real estate deal for my most important client. No problem. I’m good at my job, I know how to close a sale, and this time won’t be any different.
Until I meet Sawyer, the sexy young bartender I accidentally kiss in the broom closet. Turns out, he’s one of the owners I’m here to negotiate with.
Okay, so that complicates things. As does the fact that he doesn’t want to sell. Or that we can’t keep our hands off each other despite being on opposite sides. And most of all… that I might be falling for him even though I know better. I’ve made the mistake of falling for a younger man before and I won’t do it again.
Sawyer:
For me, family is everything, and nothing represents ours more than the Sea Sprite, the motel that’s been in my family for eighty years. Sure, others (*cough*James*cough*) may describe it as rundown or derelict or in desperate need of a wrecking ball. But I call it our legacy.
I’ve got plans — big plans to renovate the motel back to its vintage glory. The only thing standing in my way is James Allen, the fancy-schmancy lawyer from New York with his adorable smile, jaw-dropping assets, and his client’s millions of dollars.
James seems hellbent on destroying my future. But maybe there’s a way for us to build a new one together…
REVIEW:
If you are looking for a sweet contemporary series this is definitely the one for you. This third book in the series is no exception.
All the books are standalones, however they are slightly connected. They are easy to read on their own though.
Having read the first two books in the series, I was definitely interested in this one to see what the authors came up with this time.
It is very nice to see that it again is a different story with a whole new interpretation.
James, who was the featured lawyer in book 1, gets his own HEA in this one. Both he and Sawyer are amazing men. Their connection is instant despite finding out they are on opposite sides.
Reading about them made me feel warm inside and Sawyers passion flows off the screen. You will find yourself drawn in by his passion for the Sea Sprite, it’s legacy and the place and town he calls home.
James is a whole different story. I tremendously enjoyed the peeling back of all the layers the authors did to find the real James.
One of things I liked extra in this addition was the texting between James and Oscar. It is if the authors slowly let us peek into Oscar’s life, building up to I assume his story at the end of the series.
Also bringing in the help of Richard (James’ ex partner) therefore turning him into a prospect of a good man instead of making him a bad guy is something I really appreciated. It surely is giving us another perspective of his story that is soon to come.
Being sisters in real life and both writers you feel the easiness in which this story comes together. The way the story flows and how it all adds up so kudo’s to both authors for that.
For me this was a good, sweet story…low angst with not too many surprises and some nice emotional things wrapped in a wonderful package.
Could it have been more? For me yes it could have been, but on the other hand I really did like the focus on the personal development of both James and Sawyer.
If that is your thing, make sure to pick up this read (and the first two books in the series for that matter) and enjoy a very nice couple of passionate (in different ways) stories.
