LENGTH: 295 Pages
RELEASE DATE: March 15, 2020
BLURB: Zero Divergence, noun: no deviation from a course or standard.
After a key piece of evidence goes missing, a suspected serial rapist and killer evades prosecution. More than Royce Locke’s reputation is on the line when his investigation into the failed chain of custody suggests Franco Humphries might’ve had inside help. There’s no one Royce trusts more than Sawyer Key to help him right a wrong and uncover the traitor in their midst, but can they do it before the Savannah Strangler strikes again?
Relentless plus fearless equals flawless. Sawyer and Royce have come full circle—from hostile strangers to best friends and lovers. Neither a sniper’s bullet nor an arsonist’s fire could keep them apart, but what about a psychopath hell-bent on revenge? The stakes are high, and there’s no turning back now because the zero hour is upon them. Tick tock.
Zero Divergence is the conclusion to the best-selling Zero Hour series, which follows Locke and Key’s investigations and evolving relationship. This is a series you MUST read in order. It contains mature language and sexual content intended for adults 18 and older.
Trigger warning: Part of the storyline involves coming to terms with a friend’s suicide, which may be difficult for some people to read.
REVIEW:
Locke and Key are back, happy as can be working together as their relationship also progresses. There are still many unanswered questions though, and when it appears there is a potential inside leak, Locke must close the ranks in an effort to solve the mystery. As things ramp up, they are under the gun to solve the crimes and bring the perpetrator to justice. There are twists and turns, mystery and suspense with a good dose of Who Dunnit to keep the pages turning.
Everything I love about these guys is present in this installment. They have great chemistry – I’m a sucker for good banter – and I loved seeing their journey from disgruntled partners to wonderfully cohesive lovers/partners. It is just a pleasure to watch them work, especially knowing how far they have come, and even better to see how close they have come. They are really in-tune with each other.
Ms. Walker keeps the suspense up through this. Unfortunately, it did not feel like the end of a trilogy to me. There were a lot of things left hanging in my opinion, some that felt really needed some closure, especially concerning Locke’s prior partner and best friend, Marcus. I was happy to see some progress concerning his widow’s benefits situation, and I loved the other side characters here as well.
There is a promised spin-off in the works, so, as sad as I am to see the end of Locke and Key, I’m hopeful we will see them again in the future.
