BLURB:
Exiled by his pack as a teen, Omega wolf Simon Moorehead learns to bury his gentle nature in the interest of survival. When a hulking, rough-faced Alpha catches Simon on pack territory, he tries to escape what he’s sure will be imminent death. But instead of killing him, the Alpha takes Simon home.
A man of action, Mitch Grant uproots his life to support his brother in leading the Blue Mountain pack. Mitch lives on the periphery, quietly protecting everyone, but always alone. A mate is a dream come true for Mitch, and he won’t let little things like Simon’s rejections, attacks, and insults get in their way. With patience, seduction, and genuine care, Mitch will ride out the storm while Simon slays his own ghosts and Mitch’s loneliness.
RETRO REVIEW by Becca:
I loved this story so much. There are so many different aspects to this story that make it so good. From the strength of an omega on the run, to an alpha who’s height and breadth alone make him scary, and you find he’s a man of patience and softness. It’s the story of new beginnings, uncovering of secrets and lies, and a chance to finally have the dream he’s always wanted. Both of them.
Simon’s been on the run for so long with his mom. The alpha of the pack didn’t want a weak, male omega. And she chose to leave with him. Now he’s back, years later, on the mountain, putting his mother to rest. But he’s caught by pack members and he did all he could to stay alive. When they left him, he finished burying his mother, only to be met by the biggest alpha he’s ever seen. Instinct is telling him to submit, but after the life he’s had, he refuses and if he goes down, he’s going to go down fighting. But Mitch knows who Simon is to him, and he doesn’t want to fight the beautiful man. He wants to cherish, love and protect him. But Mitch realizes real quick, he’s going to have to come to a compromise and be real patient. And when people push him to reveal his mate, he threatens to leave. And he means it. Because no one will force his mate to do anything he doesn’t want to again. Even Mitch’s own brother. With tensions on the rise, will Simon finally realize he can trust Mitch?
I’ve always said that omegas are the strongest, and here’s another one proving me right. Sure, alphas may have the strength and size to back them up, but omegas are strong in will and heart and in all the other ways that matter, because they have to put up with so much crap. I hate what Simon had to go through and I’m glad that Mitch’s brother, Freddy, put that alpha where he belongs. Six feet under. That’s not how packs are ran. And thankfully now, with Mitch and Freddy, it has a chance to flourish. But Simon doesn’t know that. And I don’t blame him for being hesitant and scared. It’s hard to let your guard down when you’ve had to keep it up for so long. It’s hard to let go and trust your instincts to trust, when everything in your brain is saying no. But it’s why I love Mitch so much. He gave Simon everything he needed, even when Simon didn’t realize what Mitch was doing. He gave him space and time, just being there and providing. Showing him love in all ways other than sex. Which is so important. It’s not always sex that matters. It’s the trust and the intimacy and all the little things that come with it. And Mitch gave Simon that in spades.
It’s a beautiful story and I love it so much. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

REVIEW BY MARIEKE:
Mitch is an Alpha without being a pack Alpha. In other words, he doesn’t lead a pack, but he is an Alpha wolf. Alphas only get true mates when they are strong enough to lead a pack and have enough strength and care for their mates. Otherwise they get what they need from available omegas in the pack.
Mitch’s twin brother, Fredrick, is the Blue Mountain’s Alpha, but rules with Mitch by his side. When a group of wolves comes by with blood on them, the brothers both smell Mitch’s mate. Mitch goes to find him, only to find an exhausted, half starved Omega, fighting him tooth and nail.
Simon used to be a member of the Blue Mountain pack, when the old alpha chased him and his mother off. Now he came back to bury his mom, only to be overwhelmed and imprisoned by a very big alpha.
Simon caught my heart the moment I ‘met’ him. He’s trying so hard to be strong, fighting for everything he’s worth. Mitch is a tough cookie, but his inside….is softer than goo. He’s the perfect match for Simon’s fear and anger.
This book is, once again, a perfect example of Cardeno C’s brilliant way of capturing emotions and heat on paper. She drags you along–– willingly, or not–– in the whirlwind of the relationship between her main characters.
The only reason this wasn’t a five star book for me, was that I read even better ones from this author. But otherwise, it’s wonderful. There’s so much feeling and warmth in this story. The emotions of both Simon and Mitch are perfectly clear, almost jumping off the pages. I loved it.
Even the side characters, Fredrick and his wife, are funny and likeable. They compliment Mike’s character a lot. The one thing I would’ve liked to read more about, was the way the previous alpha got killed, and how he ruled his pack…might’ve made the story even more exciting.
