Quinton Mann is CIA through and through. Mark Vincent is WBIS for life. Mark, not to be outdone, has decided to escalate this game, because it has to be a game, right? There’s no way it can be anything else.
But as the game continues, as Quinn shows up to a WBIS funeral, as a friend of Mark’s penetrates the CIA computer network to get information on Quinn, as Mark breaks into Quinn’s house and gives Quinn a very interesting encounter, both Quinn and Mark realize that this is becoming the most real thing in their lives.
Can they find a way to do their jobs and keep this surprising, intriguing connection?
REVIEW:
When I read that short, I knew I was going to be in love with this series. And I was right. All this espionage and tangled webs of deception, secrets and lies. While trying not to become obsessed with someone from another alphabet squad. That in itself is funny. But there’s so much action and chemistry. The characters have their own deep wells that just seem to surprise you with the stuff they do. I love this series.
Mark is back and the limits of things are being pushed with him. After several years, he’s kept himself under the radar as far as his age. He should be behind a desk by now. And after Pete in Paris, someone else has crawled under his skin. CIA agent Quinn. It started as trying to get info on the man and now Mark has become obsessed. But there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Old enemies, even in his agency, are turning up the heat on Mark, even going after the very few he calls friends. And the game between him and Quinn have become a one up it seems. But with all that’s going on around them, including attempted murder, the connection they have may not get too far. They will have to stay on their toes, if they want to stay ahead of the game and with each other. Because all the stakes have been upped in a lot of ways, and not all of them good.
I love mysteries, spy games and thrillers. But even with all the espionage and danger, this book cracked me up so bad. The games between Quinn and Mark are hilarious. Quinn thinking he has the best security money and the CIA can buy, is nothing on Mark. And the stuff he pulls. OH gah I love it. And I must say, I’m very happy that there was a certain person who got what was coming to him. Bad enough what he did before, but what he pulled in this one, yeah, he couldn’t have met a better end.
This is one of those books that is a page turner and you can’t put it down. At least I couldn’t. I was so engrossed in it. I love everything about it. The plot, the intrigue, the secrets, the little games, they way they are figuring things out about each other. It’s just a great story. I can’t wait to see how this is going to turn out next because I think Mark has to finally admit, he may be a bit whipped. Whether he likes it or not. And in this game of danger they play, it’s a dangerous thing, but the heart wants what it wants. But we will have to see.
If you haven’t read this series, you’re missing out on a lot of fun and games. I strongly recommend it.
