Chemist Josh Collier is having a blast at a comic book convention when he gets the shock of his life—he’s a werewolf! WTF? Before he can howl, he’s whisked away to a secret lair by Nero, a hot guy dressed as a Roman centurion. Josh’s former life is over, and his genius is needed at Wulf, Inc.
Nero has no interest in babysitting a trainee were-geek when he’d rather be killing the demon that wiped out his entire pack. While Josh analyzes the monster’s weapon, wild passion ignites between him and Nero.
With destiny and their pack in the balance, can they survive the demon out to destroy Wisconsin?
REVIEW:
I am in love with this book and will be with this series, I can tell. I cannot wait for book 2, which I hope is coming real soon, because it brings me to my one pissed off point of this whole book. Cliffhanger!!!! #@@##@. WHY?????? *huffs* I guess the book being so good makes it worth it, but still not a happy camper about that one.
Josh is used to being the weak link. He is in his family, he can’t hold a relationship and he’s just really figured out why. And he can’t seem to finish what he needs to, to graduate college. But being involved in a con, made him feel like he was a part of something. And made him feel better about his life. Especially knowing he was about to headline. Until two people had to go and ruin it for him. Nero and someone else from a place called Wulf Inc. When he awakens from being kidnapped, everything that has happened to him comes back in a flash and he IS PISSED. But Nero can’t help that part. He will use whatever means necessary in order to get Josh on his side to help him fix what went wrong on his last mission. He has to fix it, he has too. And he only has so much time. But what Nero didn’t expect, was what was going on between him and Josh at the same time. And it’s causing a conflict of interest. So when the time comes for it all to happen, things get changed. And no one knows who’s doing what and who’s going to survive or not…
I can so understand Josh’s plight. It’s a catch-22 for him. And when he confronts the one thing he needs to, courtesy of Nero, it just sinks the points home. He’s pissed because he’s been changed and without permission. His life has literally been ripped away from him. But on the plus side, he’s doing research work he’s dreamed of doing. He finally gets to be with someone that gets him, after beating the crap out of him several times, (which by the way, is huge for Josh, you’ll see), but yet the anger is still there because of what was done to him. He’s learning there’s a new family for him as he gets to know some new people. Although some of them stink…..badly. But yet, it’s his own family he now longer has. So it’s almost like a no win. And he’s having to try hard to find the positives to outweigh the anger. But when he really stops and thinks, it’s a no brainer. But then I feel for Nero as well. I understand his goal and what he needs to do and why. The only time I really wanted to really shake the snot out of him, was when he purposely hurt Josh. And even then I knew why he was doing it. Heck, Josh knew too and was calling him on it.
The truth of the matter is, Nero and Josh are good for each other for lots of different reasons. The biggest being, they get to be who they are, with no filters, no masks, nothing, with each other. Yeah, they call each other on their crap, but that only makes them better. And for both of them, at the end of the day, after all the dust has settled, they have to realize what’s more important and why. And it’s not easy.
The way the author weaved this story was amazing. I loved every second of it. Except for the…you know….*cough* cliffhanger *cough*. But it’s poetry in words for me. I love this book and I know I’m going to love the next one. Because I’m excited with the developments at the end, to see where this is going to go next. Because it’s about to be one interesting ride.
