BLURB:
Handsome, fearless Lathe Bronson is New York City’s weapon against crime. He works and lives alone, fighting a war in the back streets where gangs operate in the dark. Pretty soon, they start fearing him, and give the cop a fitting name. They call him Lucifer.
Dissatisfied with his pampered, sheltered life, gorgeous Anjelo decides to escape by getting acquainted with life on the streets. Innocent and naïve, he feels drawn to the city’s dark side. But he’s an easy target in an underworld with no rules.
When his path crosses Lathe’s, sparks fly. Can he overcome his own dark side and save Anjelo? Or will Anjelo’s wings get singed, trying to find love?
REVIEW:
This book was so not for me. I like darker books for the most part. And this is a darker one. But it’s the MCs that just downright irked me so much I almost out the book down.
Anjelo is looking for help as a bodyguard, when he goes to Lathe for help. Lathe being a cop, does jobs on the side to make ends meet, and from the moment he saw Anjelo, it was nothing but oil and water. Constant insults and putdowns. Anjelo gives some back but to me that’s all this book is. Yeah, they save each other several times from gangs and the streets but every time you turn around they are putting each other down and so forth and then claim to be in love with each other.
And that’s what ticks me off. Even people with bad pasts who don’t really know what love is, I think have a bigger grasp that something is different when love comes along. But for me, this book was nothing but toxic and I was not happy. Trying to keep going back to a relationship where all they do is trade insults and hurt each other…that’s not love.
