BLURB:
After being dumped by his long-term boyfriend for being overweight, Henry Beckett decides to make some drastic changes. In a vain attempt at getting his boyfriend back, Henry does the most absurdly frightening thing he can think of.
He joins a gym.
Reed Henske is a personal trainer who isn’t sure he’ll ever be ready to date again. He’s sick of guys who are only interested in the perfect body image, never seeing him for who he really is.
As Reed tortures Henry with things like diet and exercise, Henry enamors Reed with recipes and laughter. As the friendship lines start to blur, Henry is convinced there’s no way Thor-like Reed could ever be interested in a guy like him.
Reed just has to convince Henry that life isn’t about reaching your ideal bodyweight. It’s about finding your perfect counterweight.
REVIEW:
Obesity and malnutrition has been an ongoing problem in the different parts of the world. They are extreme problems that our health experts are forced to addressed because of the large number of people affected by it.
Henry is 35 years old and overweight. His boyfriend left him one day, after eight years of being together, because he said that Henry is overweight and old. Being dumped and told you are overweight and old can kick your self-esteem and whatever self-confidence you had right to the bottom. Henry wallows in self-pity until he decides to do something about it. He signs up with the local gym, and meets Reed, the gym instructor who set up his exercise regimen and food diet. Reed is the epitome of “health,” from the way he looks, his strict exercise regimen and his diet as seen in what he buys from the grocery when they accidentally meet there one day.
Can someone so attractive and physically-fit like Reed be attracted to someone like Henry? Is that possible? Henry cannot even consider that line of thought. He is not looking for a rebound or any new relationship and he has decided to take care of himself first!
Mr. Joel Leslie really did an awesome job! I mean the inflections he puts into the different voices and the way he sounds as Henry is amazing! I can imagine the sassiness in every word that he utters when he’s voicing Henry. I felt how confused Henry was when he confided to Annika regarding how he feels after a day spent with Reed. You can just hear the confusion, the doubts, low self-esteem come through. Just amazing!
This is a story that touches on topics such as obesity, losing weight, self-esteem, self-confidence, friendship, long-time relationships. How true love is not based on physical looks alone but more importantly, what is inside your heart and who you truly are! Awesome voice of an awesome story!
