A frozen prince calls for a hero. The Fires send him a warrior.
For Rahim, life with his warrior brothers couldn’t be better, now that they’re not fighting for their survival on a pirate ship. Free to soar through space, Rahim and his kif are on a mission to explore their way home. When they get a cryptic invitation from a mysterious source, they eagerly answer the call.
Prince Nanuq is facing his wedding day. To live in the harsh frozen landscape, his people have adapted. Royals are married to entire tribes of men to ensure an heir. But Nanuq never accepted the burly tribal leader he’s been betrothed to all his life. And he wants more than a life of ice.
Though everyone made fun of him for it, Nanuq alone knows how to listen to the falling snow, and the drifts have been telling him for years that his mate is elsewhere.
Desperate to escape the destiny his family has laid out for him, he sends an invitation for his wedding to the man the snow has been telling him about his whole life. It’s his last hope.
The Asraf warriors expect an interesting vacation or an intriguing mystery, but as Rahim and his kif break through the ice, they find a landscape much harsher than they expected, and a prince who needs their rescuing.
Rahim is the fifth book in The Kif Warriors, an alien mpreg series. This series is the first co-write between Crista and Kiki. They’ve joined forces to bring you all the humor, magic, steam and action that you enjoy!
REVIEW:
So. I’m really in love with this series, but I am not a happy camper with the cliffhanger that was at the end of this one. *ahem* But with this one, I think I will have to say it’s my favorite in all of them so far, because in this one, not only did the ‘fates’ intervene about who were mates, the mating was earned. It wasn’t just a boom you’re my mate and it’s over kind of deal. It was decided by fates, yes, but it was honestly earned and there was no backing away from it. Even with the opposition trying to use tricks, it was honest from Rahim’s side because he was going to prove that he was worthy of the prince.
Everyone in Rahim’s kif was surprised when their ship received the missive for them to come to Prince Nanuq’s joining. What was even more surprising was that Rahim was picked specifically. When they got to the planet, and they saw the beings before them, Rahim spotted one that stood out from the crowd in beauty and so much more. And he knew immediately why. But he knew he would have to touch him to be sure. But with the planet being nothing but ice and snow, it was hard to touch Nanuq with all the layers on him. But Rahim was determined. Put off by everyone so he didn’t get to be near Nanuq, because he was promised to someone else, Rahim refused to be denied and set out to plan what to do. With Fazil’s help, they made a plan and what happened could no longer be denied. But the promised mate wasn’t accepting of it so they had to have a challenge, which Rahim readily accepted. He would take them all on at once and tried to until the level headed ones made him take his time. But was going to prove his worth and he did. But one of Nanuq’s father doesn’t seem so accepting and it’s going to be another battle to get him to let go and approve.
Like I said, my favorite part of this was the fact that Rahim earned his mate. Not that his mate was a prize or owned or anything like that. But he was going to go down to his death, if that’s what it took, to prove he was worthy of the Prince. And he’d prove it to anyone he had to. Send 50 fighters, he’d take them all on to prove it. And he fought with smarts and in conditions that were different to him and still became the victor. He had to fight overcoming odds with 1 parent of Nanuq’s for sure. Possibly 2. And he was going to do it. NO matter what it took. Because that’s what you do for your mate, if needed. You go to the extremes to prove what is necessary to show you will love, cherish and protect them. Not only that, but Rahim was interested in how Nanuq really thought and felt. And it was obvious, no one else around him really was. Except for 2 of his other fathers. The others started to come around eventually. I just really love the devotion and everything Rahim did to prove to EVERYONE, he was a male of worth for this special Prince.
I will be sad, after I get to read Samun. Knowing this will be the end of the series. It’s been a fun one, with all the different personalities and stuff around. It’s brought laughter and tears and with this next one, I’m anxious to see where it’s going to end. Because the ending of this one, left for one heck of a set up for the next one.
