In this time where so many of us are isolated, with pretty much all of our outreach reduced to social media and the “news,” it is easy to hurt, get negative and lonely and sad.
There is a lot of stuff going on out there! Besides growing numbers of cases of people that are sick and dying, and a world leader who seems not to care, besides people hoarding materials that would help the general public and turning around and selling them at exorbitant prices, besides growing cases of sickness at places like Amazon which is many people’s only resource for many of their needs—there is other discouraging words. Rumors and mix ups, an important company in the community that is in the crossfires and public eye, beloved persons striking out in the midst of all this and saying things they surely regret, boycotting that may or may not be helping or making things worse…it’s all so…well…sickening!
Sickening in the sense that we all feel sick! We feel betrayed. We feel hurt! We are discouraged and harmed and saddened and angered and prone to flareups of our own, striking out at those we love and sometime saying things we can’t take back! I am not defending anyone here, please understand that. And I’m not telling anyone their course of action is wrong! I am only responsible for my own actions!
I’m saying that this is an incredibly important time to remember that “energy flows where attention goes.” Also, “what we think about, we bring about.”
Think about that game “Where’s Waldo.” The first few times I played that game, it took me forever to find that little SOB. But it got easier and easier with time. My eye grew trained to find him, and to find him rather quickly. What I looked for, I found.
Of course, now we would find him right off, wouldn’t we?
But my point is, we have to look for the right things! If we want to find one more thing to be upset about, we will find it! However, if we look for something good, we can find that too.
What this community is all about is love. So why are we focusing on NOT-love? I know there is awful scary disheartening stuff out there and sometimes we feel clubbed by it and we want to respond by lashing out. But I for one only wind up feeling worse afterwards.
This community is all about love! Let’s fill our Facebook and blogs and Instagram with love! Let’s talk about what we love.
LOVE!
Let’s counter evil! Let us put flowers in the end of the barrels of those who carry guns! Let’s read! Let’s listen to books on audio! Let’s tell each other about the new story we’ve read that simply melted out heart. Let’s write! Let’s finish new tales of love and spread them to the winds so that we can refresh each other, make each other smile, make each other’s hearts swell with happiness! Let’s love!
And maybe forgive. Remember we are all human and we do stupid things when we are upset and scared and hurting and worried.
I know that we must be aware. I know we need to protect ourselves. Forgiveness does NOT mean forgetting! It simply means letting go of the stone that is lodging in our throats and hearts.
PLEASE! Let us love. Love really is what it’s all about. In the end love is all we need. In the end, love always wins.
And it feels pretty amazing too!

B.G. Thomas lives in Kansas City with his two husbands and their fabulous dogs Sarah Jane and Oliver. He is blessed to have a lovely daughter as well as many extraordinary friends. He has a great passion for life.
B.G. loves romance, comedies, fantasy, science fiction, and even horror—as far as he is concerned, as long as the stories are character driven and entertaining, it doesn’t matter the genre. He has gone to literature conventions his entire adult life where he’s been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He has made up stories since he was a child; it is where he finds his joy.
In the nineties, he wrote for gay adult magazines but stopped because the editors wanted all sex without plot. “The sex is never as important as the characters,” he says. “Who cares what they are doing if we don’t care about them?” Excited about the growing male/male romance market, he began writing again. He submitted a novella and was thrilled when it was accepted in four days. Since then the romantic tales have poured out of him. “It’s like I’m somehow making up for a lifetime’s worth of story-telling!”
In 2015 he made and entry every day in his blog “365 Days of Silver,” where he found something every day to be grateful for. You can find it right here:

“Leap, and the net will appear” is his personal philosophy and his message. “It is never too late,” he testifies. “Pursue your dreams. They will come true!”
