BLURB:
A workplace romance can melt the heart of a real estate mogul Scrooge.
Over the three years Adam Meade has worked for Grant Alexander, his crush has steadily grown, until the annual holiday party, where he finally musters the courage—both actual and a touch of the liquid variety—to dare push their professional relationship in a vastly different direction. A tentative kiss ignites a blazing inferno and begins a stream of steamy hook-ups that the men soon recognize may extend into something much more than just physical.
However, nothing worth keeping is easy, and Adam will need a hefty dose of trust to avoid falling into the trap a scheming co-worker has created to destroy their new bond and allow him to salvage the Christmas of his dreams.
REVIEW:
I’m going to warn you now, one, there may be possible trigger because of severe homophobia and disowning of a kid because of being gay. Two, this story is going to make you bawl in some spots but it is so worth it. SO worth it.
All Grant wants to do at this Christmas party is hide in his office like he usually does, and hide out. But unfortunately, his assistant hasn’t gotten the memo after three years and comes knocking to invite him again. But instead of when he turns Adam down, Adam leaving, Adam stays and gives Grant one of the fantasies that’s been plaguing his mind and dreams for 3 years. They have their first sexual encounter. And Grant is immediately regretful. Adam is having none of it and will eventually get to the bottom of what’s going on. It takes a little time and some Christmas magic, but he gets Grant to open up and what he finds out infuriates him. And he’s determined to give Grant the best Christmas ever now. But as time goes on and their relationship gets deeper, a coworker that wants Adam’s job has now booted him to the curb. Making him think Grant is the one firing him. But when Grant gets to the bottom of what’s going on, he’s beyond furious and now has to find a way to save the one thing in his life that means more to him than anything. And praying it’s not too late.
I’m not going to go into too much detail because you need to read this to find out what happens. I gave enough info in the possible triggers and I only did that because the retelling of the story is horrid. Just awful. It will make you cry and rage. But this is where I love Adam even more. After three years of pining for Grant, he’s taking over. He’s going to show Grant what it’s like to have someone love him unconditionally and have a family that will adore him no matter what. Even though he may be the employee at work, he’s clearly the boss everywhere else and he is determined to show Grant a happiness he’s never had before. If it kills him, he’s going to finally make Grant happy and secure in who he is. He’s perfect for Grant. He makes Grant blossom and grow and become someone different. It’s a beautiful story.
It’s a short story but it packs a punch. It’s a story of love and a new leash on life. Of letting go of the past and boldly moving forward in life and love.
