BLURB:
Wanted: One night together, no strings attached. Hold me, make love to me, treat me like I’m the most important person in the world. No talking. No names. And don’t be surprised if I’m gone in the morning.
After crushing on my best friend for years, I realize he’ll never want someone inexperienced like me. So I decide to get it over with, play the V-card once and for all with an anonymous hook-up. The terms are simple: No talking, no names.
It isn’t as easy as it seems. Now I can’t get the handsome stranger who greeted me with soft kisses and gentle touches out of my mind. Those hands, those lips…but it was just a one-time thing, and I need to forget about him once and for all.
At least I know I won’t ever see him again – until I board a flight and catch sight of a familiar profile in the cockpit just as the door closes.
REVIEW:
I am going to be honest with you. There was a big part of me that really wanted to listen to this book. The blurb just spoke to me, called to me really. But the worrywart part of me also reared its ugly head fearing that there would be too much focus on the hot and heavy part. In the end though, I just couldn’t resist. And I’m thankful and really happy that I didn’t. I loved this book, kind of adored it actually.
It was cute, sweet and a lot of fun – just like Teo. I fell for him from the beginning, I felt for him and the pain and longing of being in love with his jerk of a best friend. I hated to see how his so called best friend toyed with him, and used him to make himself feel good. There were so many times I would have happily strangled him. Probably not completely PC of me, but man he hurt Teo so much for such a long time.
One day Teo was done waiting for Chris (the jerk) and decided it was time for him to lose his V-card once and for all. So signing up for a hook-up app he sets up rather specific demands, crosses his fingers that someone good will come along. Enter Jack (pun not intended), a man who’s not into relationships and was drawn to Teo’s message like no other. In the end it was a night neither man could forget, but it had been one night only and no names had been exchanged.
Fate had something else in store for these two and their paths crossed again when they meet again when they least expect it. Add in a deathly fear of air travel, engine troubles and a medical emergency and you have all the set up for something melodramatic – or something that will have them fall head over heels. And boy did they fall and I fell with them. I loved Teo and Jack together, they both made the other grow in every way possible. And their chemistry was off the charts. While I would like to see some of the secondary characters (not Chris, and yes I might be a little petty but I don’t care) find their HEA, I also really appreciate this being a standalone.
And when you add the great narration by Michael Dean this book was a smashing hit for me. I just couldn’t stop listening. He brings you so much emotion in every moment, be it the longing and hurt Teo felt towards Chris the jerk, his terror of flying or the chemistry he had with Jack. It was always spot on and definitely enhanced the listeners experience of this book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone loving the fake boyfriend trope, a bit of an age gap, a lot of sweetness but more importantly a great listening experience.
