REVIEW:
When it came to writing the review and I checked details on Amazon, I was genuinely surprised to find the book was only 81 pages long. There was a lot of story packed into those few pages. I would have expected the book to be much longer to contain it all.
Not only was the book packed with story, but it also took its time in unfolding the characters arcs and building up the characters, both the MC’s and the background cast. Given that most of the cast were vampires, they were surprisingly normal even sweet and there was very little blood shed. In fact, the way the vampires were depicted was quite novel and natural with their paranormal nature, if anything, toned down, which I liked.
The writing is smooth and the characters well written. It’s not flawless, but nothing ever is. The flaws, however, are minimal, limited to flow rather that technicalities, and may be due simply to the shortness of space within the book. In general, there was little to complain about.
Henri and Doss are engaging and I invested in them almost immediately, especially Henry. They are both vulnerable and very sweet together. The intimate scenes were erotic and there was a nice, easy built. When Henri showed us glimpses of his vampire nature while with Doss, it was hot and sexy.
As I have said, there is little to complain of in this book and I will definitely be reading more by this author, especially the Ansel Clan series.
