BLURB:
Rok had never considered having children of his own, and after seeing the mess his brother Luk made out of finding a mate and getting pregnant, he’s even more settled in his ways. The stability of the ship is only as good as the stability of its captain, especially on a pirate ship. And he’s definitely not going to let one of those prancing, impregnating Asraf near him, no matter how mesmerizing someone’s deep blue scales might be.
Fazil kind of likes this space pirate adventure, now that the kif isn’t in danger of getting sold to slavers, passed around the crew for fun, or eaten. It’s only temporary, even if they’re still figuring out how to get home, so he might as well have fun while he can. And what’s more fun than seducing the stern, immovable captain?
When the two are stranded on a remote planet with a tribe of pacifists after a mission gone wrong, one touch, one flash of lightning, is all it takes to change everything for Fazil. Rok is no longer a toy to be played with, he’s a treasure to be protected. He’s Fazil’s mate.
That touch unleashes the yearning in Rok. But even after being separated from his crew and responsibility, it’s difficult to let himself accept love. And neither warrior is content to live happily ever after with a bunch of basket weaving, grass smoking hut dwellers. They have to find their way back to the ship. Force and violence won’t work this time, though, and they’ll have to lean on each other and learn a gentler way of doing things to find their way home.
Fazilis the fourth book in The Kif Warriors, an alien mpreg series. This series is the first co-write between Crista and Kiki. They’ve joined forces to bring you all the humor, magic, steam and action that you enjoy!
REVIEW:
I loved this one for so many reasons. For one, Fazil is such a trip. Always being a goofball, but when it comes to taking care of business, it’s all business. No joking around. But what I love the most, is for a being who’s never had love, he’s learned that love is wonderful. But he made Fazil work for it. And that makes it even better.
Rok was slippery when it comes to Fazil trying to touch him. He closed himself off years ago when it came to love and touch. Sex was just a thing to find release and nothing more. But Fazil was persistent. He wasn’t giving up, even though all the avoidance was upsetting him. But when Rok had no choice but to touch Fazil, Fazil couldn’t have been more than happy. Of course, after they got out of trouble, he’d be more happy. But he was opening up Rok’s eyes to what love and affection really were. And for Rok, it was terrifying. Especially knowing he was having a baby. Because all sorts of emotions were popping up and he felt weak. Like he wasn’t a male anymore. But Rok was having to learn, violence wasn’t always the answer. And as they are getting out of trouble to get back to their mates, the lessons they were learning seemed to go better when they were together. Now if they can just make it back in time, and alive.
Fazil is such a goofball. I felt sorry for him, because Rok turning down his advances were really upsetting him. But in a way, it was funny too. Because Rok was going to make him work for it. Rok wasn’t going to play the games Fazil liked to play. But even with him avoiding Fazil as much as possible, he couldn’t deny the overwhelming urge to protect him when it came down to it. But because Rok made Fazil work for it, it was much more special. Fazil had to learn to settle down and be patient and teach Rok what affection really was. And that it was a good thing. And for Rok, he was learning that it’s a good thing. And that he really wasn’t weak or less of a male, because he was in love or anything of the sort. And it was beautiful.
When love is earned, it’s amazing. Because you know it’s the real thing. It’s not made up or just a force because they are mates by fate. It’s a love earned by hard work, patience and love. And that just makes it that much more special.
