All too soon, the consequences of the fake relationship weigh on both Silver and Spice. Will a meddling grandmother, an adorable little boy, and a team of friends be enough to convince Silver and Spice to give a real relationship a shot?
Silver & Spice is a steamy, slow burn M/M age gap, fake relationship, forced proximity romance with a silver fox, single daddy and a younger man ready for a family.
REVIEW:
* Ooh la la, this book is SCORCHING HOT! *
Silver and Spice is Kyson and Bay’s book and it picks up immediately after the cliff-hanger in book two, Silver and Gold, when Bay is hospitalized following a motorcycle accident. As in the two previous books, Bay continues to balk at a relationship with Kyson. His mantra: I’m a dad, I’m a dad, I’m a dad. Not only does he want to focus all of his attention on his young son, Arlo – to the detriment of his own social life – he doesn’t want to saddle Kyson with a child in his life. Never mind he doesn’t give Kyson the opportunity to make this choice for himself. The pain and longing these guys are feeling is unmistakable. They both want to be together romantically, but stubborn Bay won’t budge.
Fortunately, Bay has a meddling grandmother who proposes a preposterous proposition. Millie the octogenarian is not just tolerant of her gay grandson, and not just supportive of his relationships, she actively pushes Kyson and Bay together, going so far as to provide condoms, lube, and a dildo for an island getaway Millie-style that she arranges for them. (Millie would make Nana Dombruso from Alexa Land’s Firsts and Forever series proud.)
So let’s get to the good stuff … the delicious dirty talk is off the charts. Never have I encountered an author so adept at dirty talk as A.D. Ellis. No doubt about it, she knows how to write great sex. *fanning myself*
Kyson and Bay are very likable characters and comprise a sweet, caring, and kind couple. This is a slow burn romance that begins with love at first sight for Kyson and a strong interest from Bay in book one. The secondary characters – the growing Silver family – are really almost main characters themselves, and continue to be charming. This book also has the added bonus of Millie. Plus, best of all, Dick and Rod the porn brothers are absent. Yay! I would like to have seen more dialogue from Arlo, making him a more active participant in the story, rather than just talked about.
Silver and Spice wraps up the series with not only a very happy ending for Kyson and Bay eighteen months into the future, but for Bode and Sage, and Benji and Rhys, too. Ellis has also gifted her readers with three bonus, wrap-up scenes at the end of the book. And, she has announced that later this year there will be a spin-off series, Forged in the City, in which the six men will be secondary characters.
I would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite between Silver and Sage and Silver and Spice, both of which I prefer to book two. Just try the whole series.
