REVIEW:
Note: While this is book 2 in this series, you do not need to have read the first book to appreciate it. It does have spoilers for both of the previous books however, and I would recommend reading book 1.5
Wesley has made his home and life with his Wilton Cottage B&B. He’s built it into a year-round haven for the LGBTQ+ community. He’s got a top notch restaurant as well serving breakfast and lunch with a wonderful chef. He’s happy with his friends and his business. But there is just one big fat fly in the ointment – Nathan Randall. Randall is a hotelier who has bought the businesses around Wesley’s and needs only this last property to begin building his latest and greatest highrise hotel right on the beach in Pineapple Grove. He’s motivated by his past and he’s holding the town accountable for it and he needs to show them all that he’s risen above it and above them by being successful in their midst.
Wesley doesn’t understand why Nathan HAS to build his hotel right where his pride and joy is located. He’s made his first real home there. He doesn’t have any family, but he’s made a family with his friends and employees at the B&B. Nathan feels like his offer is more than fair and he doesn’t understand why Wesley can’t just take the money and start another business anywhere. He doesn’t understand why Wesley is so attached to this one place, when he’s offering him the ability to make something new and grander.
Wesley decides to try to figure out what makes Nathan tick, so he tried following him. This leads to quite a few humorous moments. Wesley is not nearly as stealthy a he thinks. Shortly thereafter, he sees Nathan AGAIN – outside a gay club in Miami and he follows him there after a night of drinking and dancing. Well once again, he’s not too stealthy 🙂 But they end up hooking up and it’s the hottest sex either of them have ever had. Followed by the awkward morning after. But Nathan can’t get Wesley out of his head. He comes to Wesley’s home and he realizes he feels a protective urge every time he sees him. Against their better judgement, they keep having sex, but the business between them is causing sleepless nights on both sides with no solution in sight. There are some additional pressure with Nathan’s father and the weather, but they really need to find a solution to this problem that leaves them both what they need.
We met Wesley in the first book of this series. He’s an adorable and sweet character who has a spine of steel. He’s build his life and family and home around his business – one that provides a home and haven for the LGBTQ+ community. Nathan starts out as an outsider who seems like the enemy. As we get to know him more, we find out that he and Wesley have a lot more in common than they would have thought. They are super attracted and despite their better ideas, they can’t get enough of each other. Their chemistry is very hot and they cannot resist each other. As they continue to get to know each other, they realize that they want more than just sex, but they can’t see a way around the business problem that is causing the barrier to them moving forward. I loved watching these two realize that while they love their businesses, it won’t keep them warm at night. It’s a lovely story and I really enjoyed the way the characters slowly came to the realization that they can have it all if they are creative and if they work together. My favorite so far in the series and definitely recommended. I really hope that Lincoln and Jamison get the next story 🙂 Hint, hint!!
