Two men collide at a coffee shop…sparks fly along with the java.
Dr. Adrien Ellet loves his dental practice in Cedarwood. He prides himself on being one-half of the most inclusive office in town. Where he’s an expert in the dental field, he’s not so hot as a father. He knows his relationship with his four-year-old son, Kyle, isn’t great and his nanny, Kelsi, is moving on. What’s a guy to do when he needs a little guidance and could use a hot man in his life?
He goes to the coffee shop.
Nathan Gordon loves children and his career as a manny. But he’s lonely. Being a manny means spending his time with children, not going to clubs or partying. Good thing he’s happy to be a homebody. When he runs into the coffee shop for a quick latte, he meets the man of his dreams—who also happens to be the head of the family he wants to manny for. What’s a guy to do when he’s hired to care for the children, yet he’s attracted to the father, the dentist from the coffee shop?
Can these two make it to forever or will the passion between them fizzle before they get started?
Reader advisory: This book contains references to inadequate parenting, suicide threats, homophobia and homophobic harassment.
REVIEW:
I really am enjoying this series, but if there was ever a book that needed another way to punch people, this is it. Lol. sheesh. What is it with stupid exes and stupid homophobic morons? Mercy. But I love that the lgbt community is pulling together like a family more and more. They deserve the right to love, marriage and children like anyone else and they are going to prove it one way or another. And not be run off by people who are close minded and spiteful.
Adrien has been lost for at least 2 years. Since he divorced his ex, he’s been working nonstop and trying to be a dad to his 4 year old son, but doesn’t know how. Thanks to his mother not being a great role model. He loves Kyle with all his heart, but how does he make things better with the little guy? And now the one person that helped him with it, is quitting on him to get married. He hates feeling so selfish, because he’s basically thinking of himself and his situation, instead of her happiness, but he doesn’t know what to do. He goes to enjoy a cup of coffee and literally runs into a man, who ends up being his new manny. One his old nanny recommended and comes through the training center. It’s perfect, except he’s attracted to Nate and shouldn’t be because it’s his employee. But Nate is feeling the same thing. And everything seems to be trying to work against them. Can they make it work professionally and possibly personally, before everyone seems to get their wish and rip them apart?
I really like these two. They need each other so much, but being more serious can cause some problems and it’s scary. And the biggest stake of them all is Kyle. He already had to deal with one father leaving. What happens if these two get close and they have to break up? It’s a thought that both of them are thinking. Which makes it even more perfect, because their priorities are straight from the beginning. Everything is about Kyle. It’s the most important part of life. The most important thing to Adrien, even though he feels like he’s failing. And I admire that about Adrien. Even though he’s not doing as bad as he thinks, he knows he’s not doing all he should be and needs help. Being a single parent myself, I wish I had had more help than I did. It’s a hard job. I love my kid for everything, but it’s very hard. And you question everything. But I’m glad he had Nate backing him up. Showing him the right way, encouraging him and showing him that it’s ok for Kyle to be a kid. Not a mini adult.
There are a few in this one that just need to go, but other than them, I really like this series. But you can’t have perfect all the time. Life doesn’t work that way. Unfortunately, even in stories, there’s always a moron or a bad guy that has to make things harder than what they need to be because heaven forbid they don’t get their way or that someone is different. But what it has done, is made a community stronger in a lot of ways and building families where there were none because it’s time to take a stand.
