Founded over 400 years ago, Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio is a private and very elite society, where dominance and submission are revered. Steeped in tradition and excellence, every dominant, every submissive, and their pairing are selected with great care.
When Hunter Vargo is brought into the Sanctus, his need for strict dominance sees him paired with the wrong master. But only a short time later, mistreated and his trust broken, he’s recalled, his collar removed. The grand master knows it will take a special kind of dominant to restore the sub’s faith and trust.
Sig Bruckner’s world is perfect. He has a great job, he has high standing within the Sanctus, and he has Levin, the very best submissive. When he’s asked to take on a second sub, a young man with issues and a rule not to touch him, Sig’s world is turned upside down.
When his dominance, his patience, and self-control are tested, and when Sig’s relationships with both subs are pushed past his limits, everything begins to unravel. Yet, Sig knows every good dom learns from their subs, and he’s no exception. He might not be able to fix everything on his own, but, perhaps, the three of them together can.
Please note: This is a BDSM-lite MMM story.
REVIEW:
So this is a story of a secret and elite D/s society. Hunter is a damaged sub who has experienced abuse in his past and then is abused by the Dom he is given to and so he is taken away from that Dom and given to another Dom who is deemed a better fit and who has one sub already. Sig is a doctor and also a Dom with a sub Levin who has been with him for some time. Adding Hunter to their household has a lot of different ramifications, especially since Sig is asked to care for but not tough him. This is difficult to navigate with his relationship with Levin as well as how protective he is about Hunter.
Levin takes to his role of guiding Hunter very well. He wants to help the young man and he things that Sig will be able to do right by Hunter. But both Levin and Sig try not to overstep the boundaries and unduly influence Hunter in any decision about his future. This turns out to have unintended consequences. In the long run, Hunter needs to feel secure and cared for and have discipline and trust and permanence in his life – which he very much wants. He has some trouble expressing his needs because no one has ever really asked him, but with Levin and Sig he begins to come out of his shell. In the end, it’s up to the Sanctus to determine what the best move is for Hunter.
This was definitely something different for N.R. Walker. I have to say, the story was just OK. Thankfully Nick Russo’s narration saved it a bit. I didn’t connect with the characters really and I found the whole premise fairly unbelievable. I also didn’t believe that someone who had been through the trauma that Hunter had been through would be able to function without intensive therapy over an extended period. Finally, there is a LOT of sex in this story, so if you are the kind who skims or fast forwards through those scenes, you’ll be left with little to give you sense of the characters or arc. Bottom line is that this story just wasn’t for me. YMMV.
