RELEASE DATE: February 7, 2020
LENGTH: 316 pages
BLURB:
Ren is in desperate need of a rebound fling. Lucky for him, the smoking hot contractor he hired has just the tool for the job.
The last thing I want is another relationship or another broken heart.
All I need are my bees and the occasional hookup to scratch the itch.
Okay, maybe meeting up with my hot contractor weekly is a little more than occasional. And maybe the way I’m starting to feel about the guy I’ve been anonymously chatting with online should concern me.
But CaulkyAF doesn’t want to meet, and Cole doesn’t want anything serious, so what’s the worst that could happen?
**** This series does NOT contain shifters, it’s the OTHER kind of bears.
REVIEW:
Love on the rebound. Some people, after getting out of a relationship, get into this in order to feel good about themselves. It is a way of proving to oneself that he or she is attractive and that he/she can really attract other people, contrary to what their ex might have said. But people also say that these kind of entanglements don’t usually last. It will run its course and then you are alone again.
Ren has just been dumped by his boyfriend of five years. He might not have known about it if not for a receipt of the moving company which his boyfriend purposefully put where he can see it. He swore not to get into another relationship again. He can focus on himself and his hobby for once.
Cole has always been consciously avoiding being in a relationship. He thinks having a brother who is determined to be married is enough in the family. He loves his hook-ups, satisfied with it actually. Until he meets Ren.
After Ren decides that their hook-ups are dangerously going into “serious” territory, he decides to cool things off, much to the dismay of Cole. Both of them have also been chatting with someone on a dating app. On the app, they both freely talk about how they feel, unlike the physical relationship that the real Ren and Cole are having.
I love how kind of reverse this story is. It starts with a hook-up, then more hook-ups, before it becomes a “date!” The fun part is that both MCs are scared of commitment that a relationship entails, which is really endearing because they are trying to protect themselves from getting hurt. Ren has learned his lesson from his previous relationships and Cole just never wanted it before. We will see them navigating dating after hooking up. I love how unsure they are, and how they are second-guessing themselves. But I guess when you realize that you really want something, you find a way to make it work.
