Rest and relaxation weren’t the only things on Alex’s mind when he agreed to go winterize his friend’s cabin in the mountains. Since he’d been struggling to meet his deadline for his book, he figured a quick weekend getaway was just what he needed to get his creativity flowing again. What Alex hadn’t counted on was coming face-to-face with Rhys—the only man Alex had let close after his world had nearly ended. Only Rhys took his battered heart and disappeared with it.
Fresh air and a few days off were exactly what Rhys needed—whether he knew it or not. After booking Rhys a cabin for the weekend, his best friend packed him a bag and sent him toward the mountains. Lack of GPS and a cabin mix up lead Rhys back to Alex. An unexpected snowstorm traps them together.
With nothing but a few walls between them and Mother Nature preventing them from leaving, will Alex and Rhys take advantage of fate bringing them together again? Or have hearts been broken far beyond repair?
Ain’t Snow Mountain High Enough is book 8 of the Valentine’s Inc. series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. It’s a second-chance novella that ends with a happily ever after.
REVIEW:
You guys better bring some tissues for this one, because man, it’s going to make you cry. Woo. I was bawling so hard. I can’t say much, because it will give it away, but yeah, it’s toughy. But it’s oh so good.
Alex needed some time away to try to finish his book. When his friend asked him to make sure his cabin was winterized, Alex decided maybe some mountain air would help him get past his writer’s block. But what he didn’t expect was to see the last person on Earth he wanted to. Rhys. After Rhys shattered his already severely broken heart, he knew he would never let anyone in again. But Rhys has wanted to explain for so long why he left after that night, but was afraid of what would be said or done. And now being stuck together in this snowstorm, Rhys has to figure out how he can finally make Alex listen to why he ran away, when all he wanted to do was stay.
I will say this. The situation between Alex and Rhys is a very tough one. You can’t side really with either one in this book because they’re both right and both wrong. It’s really complicated. I can’t tell you why, but you will see. The problem with the whole thing was emotions got involved and instead of taking the time to communicate, Rhys ran. And Alex stewed. He had a right to be angry for Rhys leaving, but Rhys had a right to be scared and run too. Like I said, it’s really complicated. I just know I felt for both of them. My heart broke for them both in what could have been something simple to fix. But when the heart speaks, sometimes the head doesn’t listen. Or vice versa. It becomes a lot more than what it could be. Making a mountain out of not necessarily a molehill, but still.
This is such a good book. Don’t worry. There’s an HEA. And that’s all I can say about that. But it is angsty but worth it in the end.
