The Legend of the Ghost Train
Today, people say that on a quiet night in the mountains of Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, you can hear the far off shriek of a locomotive whistle and the rumble of the train’s cars as they clamor across the tracks. The legend claims the train moves through the valleys and mountains searching for lost souls that need a lift to the other side.
In the early Twentieth Century, railroads were not only a way to transport people, they also carried all types of goods across the country. Lumber from the forests of Tennessee, coal from the mines of Kentucky, and tobacco from the fields of Virginia were just a few of the industries that depended heavily on the railroad system. Even the Vanderbilt’s built a train system to carry the products needed to construct the great Biltmore Estate.
The Legend of the Ghost Train series will carry you off to a simpler time before WWII and the Great Depression. It’s about the love between two men that wasn’t spoken of and ghosts of past loves that still linger in the mountains. Some haunt the living looking for a loved one. Some want revenge for wrong doings. And, others are evil and will stop at nothing to repeat the past and kill again.
He was just pulling out onto the highway when his phone rang. It was Jesse.
“Carter,” he said. “Are you home yet?”
“What’s wrong?”
Carter jumped to the conclusion that Jesse was in danger again.
“Nothing, nothing. I just couldn’t sleep or concentrate on my research,” Jesse answered.
Carter took a chance, and asked, “You want some company?”
“Yeah. I’d like that.”
“I’ll be there in five minutes.”
Making a U-turn in the middle of the road, Carter headed back to the little roadside motel where Jesse was staying. His heartbeat ramped up, and the thought of having Jesse alone had his cock taking notice.
“You idiot.” He said out loud to his cock. “Just because he called me doesn’t mean he wants you!”
Carter pulled the Jeep into the parking spot he had left an hour ago, ran his fingers through his hair, and took a deep breath as he stepped out. He noticed that Jesse opened the door to his room just as he slammed the Jeep door behind him.
The light from the room left a golden hue around Jesse. He was smiling shyly but his eyes glittered as they stared at Carter. A lump formed in Carter’s throat and he was finding it hard to speak.
“Are you going to come in or stand there and stare at me?” Jesse chuckled as he waved Carter in.
The room was sparse. There was a desk with a chair and a small chest of drawers with a television on top. The smallest microwave Carter had ever seen set on top of the dorm sized refrigerator. Then there was the bed, it might have been a queen size but more likely was a full. Carter stared at the bed where Jesse had pulled back the sheets and comforter. Jesse coughed.
Carter turned to face Jesse. He was wearing a pair of navy blue sleep pants that hung dangerously low on his hips. The white cotton tee shirt barely covered his chest and the muscles laying beneath it. Jesse wasn’t buff by any means, but his arms and chest were well defined. He took Carter’s breath away.
“I don’t usually invite men to my motel room,” Jesse said, a teasing lilt to his voice. “But I just didn’t want to be alone tonight.”
“Umm, okay.”
Suddenly Carter was unsure of what he was supposed to do. Was the invitation for sex, or was Jesse simply looking for someone to talk to?
Jesse took the few steps between them and cupped Carter’s face in his hands. His lips were sure and strong. He pulled Carter’s breath from his body and returned it with his own mixed in. When Jesse’s tongue slipped gently across Carter’s lips, he sighed as he opened for Jesse to enter. The touch of tongue to tongue was all Carter needed to take control of the kiss.
He grabbed Jesse’s slender hips and pulled his body snug to his own. Their hard lengths pressed together causing both men to respond with thrusts and moans. With great restraint, Carter pushed Jesse away only to pull his tee shirt up and over his head. Jesse’s nipples hardened as the cool air in the room reached them. Rubbing his fingernail over one nub, Carter enjoyed the shudder that passed through Jesse’s body.
“Are we going too fast?” Carter whispered as he trailed kisses across Jesse’s collar bone.
Panting, Jesse answered, “Depends on what you think is fast. I’d say we need to speed it up.”
Carter groaned.
“Take me to bed, Carter. I don’t like to fuck standing up, the first time.” Jesse slipped his sleep pants down his hips. He stood in front of Carter completely naked.
“It’s better if we’re both naked,” Jesse teased. He unbuttoned Carter’s shirt and ran his fingertips playfully across his chest. He ran them down until he came to Carter’s belt.
“Stop,” Carter gasped. “If you do that, it will all be over before it begins. I need to catch my breath.”
Jesse laughed. He took the three steps to the bed and stretched out with his back against the headboard.
“So, catch your breath and take them off.”
“I have a feeling you are going to be the death of me,” Carter said as he undid his belt and dropped his pants. He kicked off his shoes before he crawled across the bed to rest between Jesse’s legs.
