A warm welcome to author Sue Brown joining us today to talk about her latest release Alpha Home, book 3 in the J.T’s Bar series.
Sue tallk about what is going on atm , shares an excerpt and brought a lovely giveaway for our readers!
Welcome Sue 🙂
I’ve got a huge thank you to make to everyone who has bought and read Alpha Home, plus Barman and Chef. Alpha Home has sold so much better than I expected. I’m shell-shocked to be honest.
I was really excited about this story after completing Alpha Chef, and then the men stopped talking to me. I had no idea what to do with them. Finally the story came together at the end of 2019 but I thought that the chances of anyone wanting to read the series again after two years was slim. Readers proved me wrong. Without going into details, it couldn’t have happened at a better time. I know talking about money is a little crass (especially if you’re a Brit), but sometimes you just have to say thank you so much. You’ve really helped.
I’m now focusing on new ideas and finishing Angel Enterprises. I have an idea for new Alpha stories, as if I didn’t have enough plot bunnies in my head. At the moment I’m plotting a new series around Lukas, the section leader. If you haven’t read Alpha Home, I’ll say no more, but Lukas wants his time in the sun.
My brain is working a hundred miles an hour at the moment, and I have notebooks full of plot scribblings. What I need to do is get off my arse and write. Which is what I’m going to do. Tara for now.
Blurb:
Will an alpha guy like Si willingly give his heart to Howie for a second chance at love?
Si Raines thought his plans were set for the future. He’d marry his fiancé, the bar-owner Howie Gray, continue with his covert ops career, and when he was ready to retire from that, find a new job and settle down to life together. But a text from Howie throws all the plans into a maelstrom of chaos and hurt, and Si swears he’ll never return to J.T’s Bar again.
Two years later, when an injury ends his covert ops job against his will, he finds himself back at the bar, only to discover Howie is still around, and in danger from a stalker. When Howie begs him for help, Si has to decide if he’s willing to get involved. Apart from doubting whether he can protect anyone with his injury, is he really prepared to be around Howie again? The attraction between them is still electric, and Howie seems willing to explain his behaviour. But can Si forgive him? Faced with the resurrection of old wounds and imminent danger to them both, can Si find it in his heart to rebuild his relationship with Howie and take a second chance on love?
Buylinks for Alpha Home:
Howie put on a pot of coffee, and Si limped to his bedroom looking for his pain medication. He decided against the extra strong meds because they would make his brain fuzzy, and instead popped a couple of Tylenol, washing them down with a bottle of water on the nightstand. He went back to the bar to find it empty. Si frowned, wondering where Howie had disappeared to. One of the men nodded to the back. Si tipped him a salute in thanks and limped out to the back yard. He found Howie sitting in the backyard, coffee in front of him, lost in his own thoughts.
Si shivered in the chill wind as he sat opposite him and took Howie’s cold hands in his. They could have done with hats and gloves as well as their jackets. “It will be all right, I promise.”
He didn’t have any right to make that promise but he couldn’t bear to see Howie looking so distraught. Howie pulled his hands away and wrapped them around his mug instead.
“You and I both know that things go wrong and we can’t change it.”
Si studied him intently, not sure whether he was talking about the fire or their relationship, or maybe something else entirely.
Howie rubbed his eyes. “Someone tried to set me up.”
Si nodded, that was one thing he could agree with. Setting Howie up on an arson charge would certainly complicate matters. They would be so busy trying to deal with that they would be distracted from anything else that was going on.
“They could have been trying to murder you.”
He’d been thinking about that too. A fire was a huge step up from petty theft.
Howie stared at him wide-eyed. “If you’re trying to make me feel better, you’re not succeeding.”
Howie went to wrap his arms around himself, but Si grabbed his hands.
“I don’t want you to feel better, I want you to feel angry. You and I are going to work this out, but first we need to work out the motive.”
Howie pressed his lips together and tugged his hands free from Si’s. “You need to go home, Si. This isn’t your problem.”
Si stared at him. “What?”
Howie rubbed one hand over his hair, coming away black with soot. “Just go back to Virginia and stay there.”
“You’re joking!”
Si couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Someone was trying to kill Howie and the man was telling him to get lost.
“I can’t have you here, Si. What if you get hurt?”
Involuntarily, Si gave a bark of laughter, and Howie’s expression closed off. Dammit, he’d offended Howie.
“I already am hurt, babe. But…,” He held his hand up as Howie opened his mouth to protest. “I’m not stepping one foot away from you until I know who is hurting you. When we’ve got them behind bars, you can send me away.”
Howie’s expression didn’t look promising.
“You came to me, remember?” Si coaxed. “You came to me because you know I’d never turn you away.”
He could see Howie was ready to take flight. He wanted to step around the table and pull Howie into his arms, but his hip was hurting like a bitch and he’d probably just about stand up before Howie would be running away. He hated being incapacitated like this.
Howie’s shoulders slumped and Si expelled a breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
“So where do we start?” Howie asked.
