When the desperate needs of his family must come before his dream of finishing his degree, Kyle, feeling both guilt ridden and heartbroken, knows what he needs to do. But when his help isn’t enough, a shady idea offered by his even shadier friend proves the only saving grace.
Mergers, acquisitions, and philanthropy consume Maddox’s days and nights prompting an overdue visit to his best friend’s luxury resort. Finally enjoying some R&R, he meets an adorable botanist working there for the summer. But a surprise visit from his ex and a shocking theft from his suite turn Maddox’s trip into chaos.
Trusting his gut, Maddox strikes a deal to help Kyle make up for his sticky fingers. But when his heart gets involved and his ex refuses to let go, Maddox’s plan starts to unravel. A summer of romance, deceit, and greed have both men navigating emotional waters, leaving them to wonder if true love and their happy ever after will come to pass.
REVIEW:
Going into this book felt so much like being thrown smack dab in the middle of a soap opera. The desperately poor young man trying to rob from the overly rich, only to be caught with his hands in the bag, or the safe, as it were. Definitely a dramatic situation, with a surprising outcome for all involved.
Maybe I would of expected harsher repercussions for Kyle’s actions when Maddox decides the “punishment” should be a summer working at his estate. And who am I to argue with the decision of a kind, forgiving man? I’m sure the fact he’s strongly charmed by the cute botanist has nothing to do with his choice of punitive measures. And it’s not like he has fun with temptation constantly under his nose, a few rooms away in his home. It was definitely entertaining to watch them together. Their chemistry and emotional connection are off the charts, although they also have serious issues to solve, if they ever hope for a happy ending.
I’m really trying to not give too much away, so that other readers would enjoy Sticky Fingers in fullest. Maybe this book is a bit sweeter compared to the others I’ve read by Davidson King, but it was equally fun to read. And anyway, the sweetness was balanced by the actions of Kyle’s selfish friend and those of Maddox’s hateful, vindictive ex, adding suspense to the story. So, really, there was never a dull moment, and I enjoyed every page of it.
