Jason Jachovich never dreamed he’d be sold to the Psy only to be turned into a monster from an old Hollywood movie. When the Psy try to use him and the other humans they changed in a war with other paranormals, Jason manages to get free, only to watch as the others like him die in a war they didn’t want to be a part of.
The Alliance is stunned to see what the Psy have created in their attempt to defeat the Alliance. In order to defeat the were-creatures the Psy have sent to fight, the Alliance must kill them, but one manages to survive. Dr. Adam Pratt is sent to study this were-creature in hopes of saving any more they come across. What he didn’t expect was to find his mate and become willing to do anything to save him.
This is the second edition of the original 2014 release. Although there are no significant changes to the story, it has been re-edited and revised.

Possible triggers: rape, mind rape, imprisoned and used
I think I like this one better than the first one and book one set things off quite well. This series is turning out really good so far and I’m loving it. Things are progressing in a bad way between the paranormals, but the Alliance is determined to do what’s best for everyone. Even if it means they have to kill one to save others. It’s doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt less, but they have many to think of.
Jason has had a life of pure hell. Being considered ‘weak’ in his father’s eyes, he was constantly beaten for every little thing. Then finally sold to the Psy. And what the Psy did to him, was much worse. He fought with everything he had to survive and try to make it out, but nothing he did seemed to work. When they gave him his animal though, he was finally able to block a lot of what they were doing to him. But they still forced him to go to war. And when they did, he tried to run. He wanted no part of it. But he was captured and frightened because he saw what happened to the only friends he’d ever really had. Friends who bonded over what was being done to them. When he awoke, it was to the sweetest man he’d ever seen. But being strapped brought back all the memories. He finally calmed in the presence of Adam. Not sure why, but he went with it. But he knew he had to leave the man, even after he learned why. He had to save the others before Alek had them killed. But he didn’t give Alek or Adam a chance to try to explain everything. And almost got in major trouble in a rescue effort. He learned finally what it was like to love and be loved, but his friendship again, had him running to someone’s rescue. This time he was saved again, only to have his best friend taken. And Jason was scared no one may make it out alive this time.
I swear, every story of each series gets a little more heartbreaking. The first book was bad enough with what happened to Seth, but it will never compare as to what happened to Jason. It was horrid. Something no one should ever have to endure. I was so proud and admired him so much in how he tried to fight back. And when he finally learned to fight back totally. It came with some risks that he had to take in order to do so, but the freedom of knowing he was in control of himself, made it worth the risks. And Adam, ever patient, ever loving, ever supportive. And yes, they’re mates, but Adam just has that way about him to begin with. He wants to help and to make that everyone is cared for. And for someone with Jason’s background, Adam couldn’t be the more perfect mate for him. He’s everything Jason needs in someone, but it’s not easy to trust and to let go to all that’s happened. It’s also not easy when he keeps disappearing and not trusting his mate and alpha that they can help and make it right.
But the key thing in this is trust and communication. The key thing in any relationship. Fated mates or not. Nothing is more important in a relationship. And when those are not in key, it causes more turmoil. As I’m sure we will see in the next book. Because this book has everything up in turmoil now. And not for the good.
