Layne Higgs grew up with a clear plan for his future: find his bondmate, mate during heat, and raise a family with the same love and devotion his parents showered on him. Until two years ago, he never anticipated that future would be with his best friend-now-boyfriend Peyton, and Layne has never been happier. Then an unexpected, impossible pregnancy obliterates everything Layne knows about himself as an omega.
Peyton Tovey has lived his entire life on borrowed time and that time is running out. With a baby on the way, Peyton agrees to participate in a risky gene therapy trial to save his life and give him the future he wants with Layne and their son. But the cost of the trial is more than anyone anticipates, and to have their happy future, Peyton and Layne will both have to find their way back to each other—or lose everything.
FIND ME is the fourth book in the “Finding Free” omegaverse series, which is a spin-off of the fan-favorite “Breaking Free” series. This is an original universe featuring mpreg, A/B/O dynamics, heats, knotting and an alpha-dominated society that is starting to see advances in omega rights. Content warnings for dark themes apply. Please see interior book blurb for an additional, spoilery warning.
REVIEW:
HOLY mother of pearl. Just when I think the last book couldn’t possibly be topped with how heartwrenching or heartbreaking it can be. Or how much emotion it wrings out of you. Just when I think that everyone is finally starting to get their happy on, A.M. comes along with another one that just rips your heart completely out and stomps all over it. ALL over it. Holy bejeebus. It’s so damn good. But it hurts so bad. Wooooo. I honestly don’t know which is the worst now about the emotional overload. This one you will need some major tissues over. You better get about 3 big boxes of Kleenex.
Ok, so if you guys have been reading the last series, Breaking Free, and then this series, Finding Free, you know Peyton was diagnosed at a young age with a disease that could kill him by the time he hits 25. So, he’s been living life to the fullest. Or trying. And that has been involving his best friend and lover, Layne. But Layne’s been feeling off a bit lately, and he receives word from the doctor that he is pregnant, despite having no heat. And the reason why, devastates both Peyton and Layne. It doesn’t mean they still don’t love each other, but it’s one hell of a bomb. Then another bomb gets dropped when Demir finally finds a way, he’s pretty sure, to cure Peyton’s disease, and what comes from it is another bomb. And not a good one. But they are trying to get through it all. But sometimes the pressure of too much stuff being bottled up has to find a way to get out and when it does, it’s almost the biggest bomb of all. And Peyton and Layne may not come back from all that’s happened. And if they can, will it be the same, or will things be forever changed?
I have to be so careful because I want to share so much and I can’t give it away. But this one will kill you. I’m so not kidding. It is an emotional roller coaster from hell. Everyone is pulled in ways they never thought about. And that’s saying a lot, considering all they’ve been through already in their lives. But I admire the hell out of all of them. Old and young. Because they keep getting up. They keep trying, they keep pushing, they keep pushing each other and going. Even when they don’t want to go anymore. And it’s hard to do. I love these guys and the resistance and determination in all of them. Even when they’ve been pushed to the last and utter final straw, they somehow manage to hang on and get through it by sticking together and pulling through. Family is more than just blood. And they’ve all proven it time and time again. It’s the bonds you create, the friends you make and all you do for each other.
I know there’s a lot more of these guys that need their stories told. As much as love these series, I’m almost a little scared lol. But I know I will love the next one just as much. And no matter how bad A.M. crushes me. Lol. I almost had a few choice words in this one, but I made it.
