REVIEW:
I am not going to lie. I am sad as heck that this is the last book. I have loved this series from book 1. It has kept me enwrapped in it and I have just loved it and all its characters. There have been times that a few needed shaken or smacked a few times, but they’ve all been trying to do things for the good. But in this one, Ben knows he’s out of time. And if you’ve kept up with this series, you know who Ben is. If you haven’t, you need to start with book one or be totally lost.
Ben has been trying for so long to fix what’s happened with his father and bring him back. His mother too, if possible. But he’s been on the run while trying to do it because TRI has shut that down a long time ago. But he’s determined not to give up. And with Enoch’s help, he’s been trying to get all the info he needs and Enoch is the one who can quiet it his head. But time is running out. There are eyes everywhere. Ben has been caught several times out, and almost caught for real. Enoch has been found out, and the lady helping Ben has been spotted as well. Along with the people they were originally looking for that started all this mess to begin with. It’s a big cluster**** and everyone is scrambling to fix it. Ben especially. But he can’t get to where he needs to be in time. And things have just taken a weird and bad turn. And he doesn’t know what to do. And how to fix it.
My heart has been broken for Ben in all these books. The way he lost his father. Being so close so many times only to have it closed in his face. To feel like everyone has turned against him and his father after all his father did. But I get the other side too. They’ve spent years trying to figure this out, only to come up empty every time. It’s costly and hurts Ben more every time. So it’s a catch 22. And the same for Enoch. Does he continue to help, knowing he could possibly lose the one man he loves or be selfish and not help Ben’s dreams come to life? It’s like no one can win, no matter what they do. And the mess that started this all to begin with has now come to present and it’s just a mess that shatters Ben even more. This is a hard story after all that’s happened. I want so bad for everyone to get what they want. It just seems so unfair after all Ben has done for everyone, that it feels like they would turn on him. And that’s what it feels like. Whether he’s done wrong or not, he’s just trying to do the right thing. It hard when you see both sides, but harder when you see the pain Ben has went through. It’s heartbreaking.
Another series that feels like the end of an era almost. It’s so sad to see it end, but the way it ended was just…wow. Definitely a twist I didn’t see coming. It’s been a great series. I have loved every page.
