REVIEW:
I know sometimes today and in certain countries and places, heaven forbid you be a ‘sodomite’, but it still upsets me to hear that word. You can’t help who you love and it’s heartbreaking that people weren’t accepting. And would try and often succeed in killing those who they thought were wrong. This is one of those stories. It’s sad in some parts, but in others it’s so good and freeing.
Teo was caught kissing a boy and banished from the kingdom by his father, the King. He was disinherited and everything. Cold, hungry and lonely, he makes it to a tree with a hole in the base, in which he hopes he can be safe for the night. But he sees another way out and follows the path to find a cabin and a gorgeous red haired man named Lyndon. They spend weeks together, enjoying each others company, until the King’s guards come for him. And he is hurt knowing that it was Lyndon who ratted him out. He leaves, but is miserable. What will it take to get that happy back or Lyndon himself?
It’s sad. Those parts. After being so sad from both being banished, Teo feels betrayed at having Lyndon petition the King on his behalf. But I get Lyndon’s choice. It’s a hard one. Lose the one you love to become the King that is needed for the kingdom or be selfish and keep him for himself. Lyndon wanted to be so selfish. So much so. But he just couldn’t do that to the kingdom. The kingdom needed a good leader and he felt Teo would be that. And Teo’s proven it already in the short time he’s been back. So it’s hard. I’d be torn too. You want to make the right decisions but it’s so hard. Love makes things hard sometimes. You want so much for the other person but man, why do you have to be the one to give them up?
It’s a good little story. It has a happy ending, so don’t worry. But it has moments that makes you tear up.
