Clover’s life was perfect a year ago. He’d found four men to love, each essential to making him whole. Each one of them tough in their own way, part of a crew of mercenaries living on the wrong side of the law.
Tank was his loving Daddy, Pyro the wild one always pulling him into mischief, Boar taught him how to cook, and Drake showed him how to use knives in a wholly different fashion.
All Clover wanted was to finally be an equal in the group. So he trained, he pushed, and risked, but when real danger stared him in the face, he broke like a twig.
Now, with one of his lovers taken, Clover can’t find a way back to his former self. Each of the relationships they’d so meticulously built is fractured, and might never be the same.
If their group is to ever be whole again, Clover needs to find the courage he’s lost, but that means facing the monster who scarred him, and truths none of his men want to confront.

REVIEW:
If there are any of you that haven’t read this series, you need to be aware, this is a polyromance story and it is very dark in many ways. It will probably have triggers for some people. The themes in the blurb, that’s just a small part of things going on in this book. Please be careful if things are a trigger for you.
If you have read this series, or have read the books up to this point, you know some things in book 2 went down and have left this group in a mess. Boar is still missing, none of them knowing if he’s dead or alive, Pyro has dropped back into drugs and alcohol to try to cope with Boar being gone, Drake keeps disappearing because he can’t deal with what happened, Clover and Drake both have PTSD, and Tank is trying to hold everyone together and feels like a failure because he can’t. And for Pyro to try to cope as well, he’s taken to fighting in illegal fights. Clover is trying to be there for everyone and be the person who he has always wanted to be for them, but with everyone fracturing, he can’t do it. And all he feels like is a failure himself, because just thinking about the evil man who hurt him and Drake, makes him want to pee himself. But if anything is ever going to go back to normal, Clover needs to find himself again. And get everyone back to the way it was.
Man, I don’t know who breaks me more in this series and especially in this book. It is a rough story to read. I’m serious. It’s very dark and not for the light hearted. The things these guys have been through, the ways they are trying to cope, the PTSD after everything is said and done…..it’s unbelievable. It’s heartbreaking. It almost reminds me of military veterans after coming back from a war, to a point. The things they go through, what they see and feel. It’s horrifying. So in this book, it’s a tossup at who to hurt for the most. It’s just one thing after another. And the sad truth, is they’ve all been through different things, except for Drake and Clover. And Boar. What they’ve been through is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, except for someone truly evil. They would deserve it.
The one thing though, that kept things going, even when it got down to the bottom of the barrel, was that even with all Clover had been through, he still tried to keep up hope and keep everyone going. He’s trying to keep up hope, even when he feels like giving up. When he feels like crying or peeing his pants in fear, he still tries to be there for everyone else and keep them strong. And that takes strength like no other.
It’s been a good series. But it’s been a tough one. It felt like I felt everything they did, ya know? It made me cry, laugh at their antics and rage at their abusers. But happy when it was all ok again. Even with all the work they were going to have to do to get back to normal.
