Kyle needed a place to stay, he never thought it would turn into so much more.
So, your gorgeous boss, Maverick, and his yummy husband, Ari, are letting you stay with them while you get back on your feet? Here are a few simple tips:
Don’t call his husband Daddy. I know it’ll be difficult, but seriously, don’t.
Don’t leave a pair of red, lacy panties in their bed.
If you hear interesting noises from their bedroom in the middle of the night, don’t peek in. Don’t.
And most importantly, don’t fall in love.
Follow these tips and everything should go as expected.
**This book is the third book in the Inked series, which is a spin-off of the Heathens Ink series, but it CAN be read as a stand-alone. Unexpected is a super sweet, steamy MMM story with low angst and very light Daddy kink.
“I was just wondering…and you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but I was curious…”
He chuckles, low and quiet. “Ask me.”
“I was wondering,” I start again, pausing to run my tongue along my lips in an attempt to chase away the dryness of the whisker burn. “What did Sam give you?”
Ari’s thumb stops stroking gently against my cheek, pausing mid-motion, his breath catching. I almost take the question back, tell him never mind, but I feel like it’s important. I feel like I need to know.
“He…” He clears his throat and returns to stroking my cheek. “He used to call me Daddy. He let me take care of him.”
“Oh,” I breathe, letting his words sink in. I’ve seen the way he cares for Maverick, packing his lunches, taking a million odd jobs so his husband can fulfill his dream. Not to mention, a hundred other small gestures every day that I’m sure are automatic on both their parts at this point. “Was it, like, kinky?” I ask, feeling a little silly that I have to ask. I’ve heard of Daddies before, who hasn’t? But I’ve never taken the time to understand what exactly it means.
“I mean, I don’t own a whip or a spanking bench or anything,” he answers with another quiet laugh.
“Well, sure, where would you even put a spanking bench?” I joke.
“I’m sure most people are a lot kinkier than we were. Sometimes when it was just the two of us, we would role-play a little, but otherwise it was more about both of us sinking into the caretaking aspect.”
“How? What would you do?” I ask, my curiosity growing more intense by the second.
“He loved when I would shave his face for him,” Ari says, a longing in his voice I’ve never heard before. “I would have him sit on the sink in the bathroom and take my time making sure his face was nice and smooth. He liked letting me pick out his clothes when the three of us would go out, and I’d help dress him. The lunch packing thing I do for Mav? That used to be just for Sam. Maverick hated it at first when I started doing it after Sam left, but eventually he gave in and let me do it.”
“I think…” I swallow around the lump in my throat. My entire body is buzzing with warm wanting at the picture he’s painting. “I think I would like that,” I confess.
“You would?” The unrestrained hope in his tone reaches inside me and stokes the need that’s already there.
I nod against his hand, pressing my face into his palm. “Would you be my Daddy?”
Ari lets out a soft, strangled sound, tilting my head up so he can claim my lips. It’s so much gentler than the kisses we shared while the three of us made love less than an hour ago. There’s a tenderness in it that somehow makes the hunger all that more intense. His lips move against mine, slow as syrup and just as sweet.
When he pulls back from the kiss, he rests his forehead against mine, and I can feel a slight tremble in his body. “I would love to be your Daddy, sweetheart.”
Author K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.
