It’s that time of year again people. The time where we, the voracious and obsessive readers of LGBTQ romance, look back and reflect on what an amazing year of books it’s been. If you’re anything like us then you’re already compiling your 2020 “To Read” list, but first, let’s share some of our favourite books from the year just gone.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be posting our top reads of the year. Please feel free to tell us your own favourites, or simply comment on our choices.
ANABELA
If We Could Go Back by Cara Dee
Bennett and Kieran were amazingly written and,if I may, explained. Because one needs to explain the reasons for cheating, and the author did just that, with a slow reveal of the characters, to the readers and to one another. Faught, unrushed feelings and beautiful love.
Murder Aforethought: A Cabrini Law Novel by Parker St. John
What I loved most about this book is how layered both Maksim and Val were. You meet a cold eyed lawyer and a mafia affiliate, but page after page only bring out their soft hearts and caring personalities. With a splash of hurt/comfort and mystery, the story is amazing.
Immensely hilarious. Sassy, irreverent Levi offers himself to bear the child of the Duke of hell…but hell wasn’t ready for his brand of crazy. There’s laughter, tears, suspense and so much more.
Kiss Me Again by Garrett Leigh
Ludo and Aiden’s story put me through an emotional wringer. It threads sensitive subjects like mental health and coping with severe self-esteem, but I loved watching the two men working around their problems and achieve happiness.
Both Linc and Wyatt are broken and damaged. Onley James was awesome at describing their staggering need for each other, how they could only find solace and affection with one another. Brilliant.
The Sinner and the Liar by Alice Winters
Alice Winters is one of my favorite authors and she’s had more than one book out this year. The reason I chose this one is because it’s a bit darker and grittier. But,it has the usual banter, humor that this author is known for and endearing, albeit somewhat deranged characters.
The best paranormal book, with unique characters and plotline. It kept me on the edge of my seat, ful of spins and turns. Action filled and intriguing, hot, saddening and adorable. Mind-blowing.
Endless Stretch of Blue by Riley Hart
Enzo and Damon both fight survivor’s guilt. They meet and for the first time someone understands perfectly what they suffer through each day,and for the first time they have hope of getting better. Their story is about hope, healing and love. Heartbreaking and beautiful.
