It’s that time of year again people. The time where we, the voracious and obsessive readers of LGBTQ romance, look back and reflect on what an amazing year of books it’s been. If you’re anything like us then you’re already compiling your 2020 “To Read” list, but first, let’s share some of our favourite books from the year just gone.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be posting our top reads of the year. Please feel free to tell us your own favourites, or simply comment on our choices.
ANNA LYNN
Forgotten: Luca by Sloane Kennedy
I love all Sloane Kennedy books and ever since I read about Luca’s family in Unbroken, I have been looking forward to this. The angst level in all Sloane Kennedy books are quite high, I never knew that I love angst this high.
Havoc & Order (Tattoos and Ties Duet #1 – #2) by Kindle Alexander
Kindle Alexander is another favorite author, her books are automatic buys for me. I love the storyline in this duet, bad boy and a good boy (you know what I mean), this particular one, both of them can’t help their attraction to each other even if they know people will be astounded if ever they are found out. I love Alec’s determination to make Keyes see that he is worth his love!
Bishop: A True Lovers Story by AE Via
Oh my God, I am in love with Bishop and Edison. I love the topic of this beautiful tale, it tackles literacy which is really an enormous problem or issue all over the world. I love how Edison and Bishop are perfect in their imperfections. I am amaze at how the storyline was presented and I love all AE Via books.
Prophesy: The Bringer of Wrath (The King and Alpha #2) by AE Via
To be honest, the Prophesy series by AE Via is my first paranormal read, and I love it! I have always been reluctant to read paranormal because I was afraid to not be able to understand it. But I never thought it would be so easy to understand. Basically, it is a love story between two characters that, by nature, should not be happening, so that alone got me already. A forbidden love!
Worship & Adore (On my Knees Duet #1 – #2) by Ella James
This duet was totally unexpected for me. The characters are a total surprise for me. I love the mystery that surrounded one of the main characters in the first book of the duet. I love how their story spanned through years, although it was breaking my heart all the way through it. I love how they finally came together, after all the secrecy and the cold/hot interactions. I love how torn they are, thinking about the other person. I just loved it!
Endless Stretch of Blue by Riley Hart
This one was so heartbreaking in a different plane. The chance meeting and the subsequent friendship got me hooked. I love the storyline.
Dine With Me : A Road Trip Romance by Layla Reyne
I knew this one would be heartbreaking. I love the main characters. I love the topic with regards to the illness being tackled. The two characters each brought their own views as to how to deal with all of it.
Raven’s Hart (Haven Hart #7) by Davidson King
A fitting ending to a well-loved series. Poe has been a mystery ever since and to be able to finally learn his story was somehow a revelation in itself. I love how he remained mysterious until the last book of the series. Aside from Snow, Poe is the one character who has intrigued me since the beginning.
Second Song (Sugarhouse Blues #2) by Edie Danford
This is my first time to read this author. The book was a total surprise to me. The storyline is amazing and again, their story started after years of knowing about each other. I love the sensitivity and the vulnerability of the main characters, especially Sage. I highly recommend this one.
Claiming Marcus (Lords of Discord #1) by Jocelynn Drake
Another paranormal book for me. I love all Jocelynn Drake books like her collaboration with Rinda Elliott on Unbreakable Bonds and Ward Security. I have always loved vampires and wolves, and this one is actually sweet and so lovable. This is my second paranormal read for the year.
I also loved Bishop and Worship. I have a couple of the others on my TBR.
