Taking Professor Grayson’s Mythology of Mating Rituals class wasn’t part of Nolan Baker’s plan, and since he hates surprises and always follows his plans, Nolan really has no explanation for why he enrolled. At least, none that he wants to admit to.
Gray has been helping his students interpret human motivation through the metaphor of fated mates for more than a decade, but up until a certain dark eyed, too pretty, too serious omega enrolls in one of his classes, he never once considered the possibility that the ancient myths might have actually been true.
MAKE ME LET GO is the second book in the Omega Celibacy Club series, a contemporary omegaverse world where the only thing stronger than an alpha’s will is his desire to keep his omega happy, and where even omegas who don’t believe in fated mates sometimes still find them.
REVIEW:
Now, so you understand, this book coincides with book one. So you definitely need to read these in order. They are happening at the same time, so you need them all to understand where some things are coming from and how they came to be. The first book, Make Me Give In, is Simon’s story of the OCC, and this book is Nolan’s.
For as long as he can remember, everything in Nolan’s life has to be just so. The corners have to align, the world needs to be scheduled and heaven forbid there’s a mess somewhere. Part of it comes from the fact that in his younger days, he felt no control, no love, not much of anything. So now that he has control, he’s going to make sure he has it all the way. His life is mapped out exactly the way he wants in, until he gets a grade that drops his 4.0 average to a 3.98. To most people, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but to Nolan, it’s everything and he’s losing his mind. His friend Jamie comes up with an idea on what to do about it, so when he goes to see his professor about the grade, he says what Jamie said and not what he wanted to say. And now he’s mortified. But Gray, his professor, is happy, because he knows Nolan is his fated mate. He’s always dreamed that it wasn’t a myth and looking at Nolan, he knows it’s not. But telling Nolan that has freaked him out and now they are treading on uneven ground. Nolan knows he needs Gray, but how can he give up that control? Can he really let go and let Gray be the alpha he’s supposed to be or is he going to keep denying them both and hide away?
Being an omega is so scary. Their rights are treated like dirt, they are often treated like holes and dirt and often left hanging after an alpha has knocked them up. So, I understood from book one why they decided to make this club and remain celibate. It’s not that they never wanted to get married, but they wanted their careers and to finish school before they did. They wanted to be see as something other than a breeding machine. And for Nolan, that was triple important. I admire Gray in this though. He was determined to prove to Nolan that not all alphas are buttheads. That they, the omegas, were really the ones with the power. The power to choose or not and anything in between. But sometimes it’s hard to see that when it seems like omegas are just ignored or treated the way they are. But Gray, bless his heart, had the patience of a saint. Because there were so many times he wanted to give in, but he wasnt’t going to until Nolan gave him a definitive yes. And no yes in the heat of the moment. A yes when he was clearheaded. They were actually quite perfect for each other. Gray caused Nolan to finally get out of his head and let go, and Gray knew he was accepted for who he was and not just a pretty face. Especially when it got hard between them.
It’s been a good series so far. I’m very intrigued. I’m anxious to see Emmett’s side of things now and what he’s planning on doing. I want to see someone worthy of him and to make him stop questioning himself. Someone to help him be more confident. You guys need to read this series.
