You know what’s not fun? Going on a Fiji vacation with four other couples. Especially when recently single.
What’s even worse is when a past hook-up arrives unannounced.
Not only do we have a history, but he’s ten years younger and a famous rock star. Most importantly, he’s my friend’s little brother.
Being trapped on an island with Jet Jackson is going to be sweet torture because all I want is another chance.
I just don’t think he’s going to give it to me.
Jet:
You know what’s not fun? Escaping one guy who broke my heart only to run into another.
Being on the road for three years has left me exhausted. The last thing I want is for Caleb ‘Soren’ Sorensen to try for round two.
I can’t fight my draw to him. I’ve never been able to.
I’m suddenly back to being the naïve kid who stupidly lusted after a hockey player. All I can think is if I let Soren get close, I’ll walk away from this vacation with a double broken heart.
*Hat Trick is a full-length M/M romance with a guaranteed HEA. This is the final book in the Fake Boyfriend series and as such is not recommended to be read as a standalone. All main characters of the series feature heavily.*
REVIEW:
I was hoping for Jet finally get his dreams. This was an emotional book. It killed me at what Jet was having to go through, the push and pull of it all. When all he wanted was to perform. And it broke my heart for him and Soren and just everything in general.
Soren was basically nursing a more or less heartbreak in the middle of Fiji. But what makes things worse was when his friend’s brother, Jet, and a fling of his comes landing in Fiji, claiming medical problems. But Soren knows there’s more to this story and he eventually gets it out of Jet. But the problem is their own back history is now coming to the present. And they are going to have to deal with it. Whether they want to or not. And then how to deal with the pull they still feel for each other after 3 years apart.
I don’t blame Jet for running. But he was screwed either way he went. His first love is on the island, and he just ran from his latest love. And that’s not even remotely dealing with all the crap from his label. He’s had enough. And I don’t blame him. All he wanted was to play and possibly make it big, but everyone is wanting to change him or wanting a piece of him he doesn’t want to give. Or they take it and abuse it. Then his brother still treats him like a kid. When does he finally get a break? The sad part. His break comes from his first big love, Soren. Soren always got him like no one else. Except this last ex. He made him feel things he never felt for anyone else, he made him feel home. And for Soren it was the same. He finally felt something he never felt with his own ex. He couldn’t even be fully there in his own relationship before because he couldn’t get past Jet. So it’s an emotional overload and it’s about to come to a boil. Fiji might not know what hits them.
But it’s a great story. It’s never easy in any relationship. But being in the limelight is triple times worse. You never get any peace. The traveling is hell. It’s hard. But if you truly want something, it takes work and compromise. Trust and understanding.
