LENGTH: 203 pages
RELEASE DATE: December 13, 2019
BLURB:
All Jake has to do is remember it’s a fling.
During my flight to Honolulu, the sexy guy on the next seat drunkenly admits his bi-curiosity. Naturally, I don’t hesitate to volunteer as tribute to be his first kiss. He politely declines, but then we run into each other in the hotel bar.
Thus begins a hot holiday fling with Bennett. Bennett’s on the rebound and I’ve never had a serious relationship. This thing between us can only be casual. But just because this is temporary doesn’t mean I can’t help salvage what’s left of Bennett’s Christmas.
If only I didn’t have to keep reminding myself not to catch feelings.
A sweet and sizzling-hot holiday vacation romance set in Honolulu, Hawaii.
REVIEW:
Bennett’s been dumped by his girlfriend just as they are about to leave for Hawaii where he’s going to propose. His seatmate, Jake, is more than happy to try to help. He helps Bennett get drunk for the first time and that leads to a lot of firsts for our friend Bennett on this holiday 🙂
When Bennett sees Jake at the hotel and it turns out they are staying in the same place, it seems like maybe he should just take a chance. They agree to have some fun together during the vacation. Jake is on a food trip – he’s a chef with food trucks in Seattle and well Bennett is now nursing his ego more than his heart. He’s a little surprised that he’s not more broken-hearted. He’s more worried about his family’s reaction since they loved his girlfriend Pearl and his sister is also a good friend to Pearl. He’s never missed Christmas with his family before, but the more time he spends with Jake, the less inclined he is to go home and face them.
Then there is the issue of his exploring his sexuality with Jake. Turns out he’s been attracted to guys for some time, but he’s never acted on it, so he’s never really told anyone. But he is have a great time with Jake, both in and out of bed. Jake for his part is loving showing Bennett around – both in and out of bed. He’s tried to make Bennett’s trip fun for him despite the way it started out. He’s a bit worried about how possessive he feels about Jake’s happiness and holiday, but he decides to go with it. He also has his eyes opened a bit on family and maybe how he’s neglected his.
As their departure date nears, both men realize that this might just be more than a holiday fling. Bennett is dreading seeing his family after the breakup, but luckily the cat’s out of the bag before he gets home, so it’s a little easier. But he knows he’s going to have to come clean if there is to be any sort of future with Jake. Jake realizes just how empty his life has been and especially after Bennett leaves, he has a pretty good idea of where he wants this to go.
Well this has been my week for jilted lovers headed on vacation stories. Thankfully this is a trope I really love if it’s done well! I really lucked out this time because this was another one I really enjoyed. Jake and Bennett are adorable! Jake is running from commitment and an unhappy family life and Bennett is just trying to find his footing. Jake is more of a happy go lucky guy and has a strained relationship with his own family, But he gets a front row seat to Bennett’s relationship with his loving family. He begins to see what he might be missing – and he’s determined to make changes. I loved watching both of these guys come into their own in this story. They were really good for one another and their relationship was really fun to watch develop. Bennett really embraces who he is and Jake learns a lot about himself as well. Maybe being the lone wolf isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I also LOVED the ending. It was sweet and perfect and just a good time all around. Highly recommended for a feel good out for you holiday romance that will leave you feeling warm and happy. Enjoy!
