Male stripper Jamie has been seeing his boss, club owner Luke, for a while now. Jamie wants a more committed relationship, but Luke is dragging his heels about getting more serious with Jamie or introducing Jamie to his daughter, Sofia.
But Sofia has had enough waiting around to meet her dad’s not-so-secret boyfriend, and devises a plan to get them together.
In this sweet rom-com, two grown men find themselves outwitted by a precocious eight-year-old.
REVIEW:
Sometimes we find love in places we don’t expect. What starts out as a friends-with-benefits arrangement can blossom in to something more. Unexpected but maybe welcome?
Jamie is a divorced dad with a daughter and is a mud-wrestler/stripper/dancer. Aside from being a divorced dad and his boyfriend, Luke is also his boss in the club he works.
Every relationship has its own dynamic and it may look the same from the outside, but it can be totally different on the inside. Each partner has different ways of dealing with their different needs.
This novel tells us how our main characters try to navigate being in a young relationship, and adding to that is the dynamics of having a young child from a previous marriage. We see Luke and Jamie try to sort out some personal details about their relationship, young as it is. We also see the pressure of introducing one’s child to a new partner. How much do you expose your child to your new relationship? It comes down to what every child wants with divorced parents, that of seeing each of their parents happy with someone.
The book is a short, sweet tale of two individuals who are navigating a new relationship and factor into that an introduction to one’s child. It is a relatable story. Anyone who likes tropes like this will love this one. Although it is a bit short, the book was able to convey the gist of what the story is all about. I totally enjoyed it, it is milder compared to other books I read but it is a welcome change.
